its not something that is catching my personal interest, but i dont understand why people are freaking out so hard over it. if they really felt that way about violence, then why dont they bitch when they see crazy shit like that in movies or on tv? that all influences kids minds just as much as a video game.
wait.....are you also saying that video games can influence some people?

This opinion has been stated by a lot of other people in this thread, but here it is again: Looks like most other open world games minus the pretense.
Personally, I think I'd enjoy it even more than most open world games on the market so far; it doesn't look like this will make you sit through annoying hours of half-engaging cutscenes. The only thing worse than a game having no plot, is a game that has a poorly written/executed plot. At a certain point, a shitty plot becomes something holding you back from the fun parts, as opposed to something adding to the game play experience.

I would argue that it is perhaps a bit insensitive, given the number of mass shootings in recent years.
...Then again, it's hard to think of a time when the [ultra liberal] / [mega conservative] pussy fuckwits wouldn't kick up a fuss over this sort of thing. There's just far too many idiots in this world (eg: in my experience, the majority of western civilization, as evidenced by social media, news agencies, and "[movement]-ists") who have too much time on their hands and aren't intelligent enough to acknowledge actual issues.

There's guaranteed to be some sort of retarded social outcry over this; the game will probably outsell itself because of it, and gamers will have to sit through all the bullshit society will inevitably subject us to.
In short, whoever's making the game is a fucking genius. Expect to see a bunch of wallet gouging DLCs and possible sequels.

I probably won't play it because i don't think mindless killing of innocence with out any reason or purpose to it will be much fun. But i do agree that it has the right to exist and you can't just sweep it under the rug. However games are already fighting against the idea that games make you violent and a game like this will just add the mainstream media more fuel for the fire. This game although it has a right to exist because i believe in creative freedom it'll probably do more harm than good.

And you kinda have to ask the question of why a developer would even create a game like this in the first place. It will probably end up getting banned in a quite a few countries

Haha for some reason I'm reminded of Rampage on the N64 It just looks kinda like a run-and-gun mixed with baldurs gate with a bit more gore. Don't see what the issue is personally, games have had you killing people since Contra, but now its a problem because...? The game itself looks meh, a couple of the fatalities were kinda cool but outside of that it looks boring.

This is literally what people over the age of 40 think what videogames are.

Come one now, we had Carmageddon and Postal.

I might buy this on the steam sale.

This is the kind of thing that makes me hate humanity, and the media, "Oh no! a violent video game! Quick! Hide the kids! close the schools! some psychopath is going to go on a killing spree because he played a video game!" Really? *RAGEMODE.EXE ACTIVATED* people act like this is the first "violent" video game ever fucking made, I could name 10, 20, 50, no, WELL OVER ONE HUNDRED FUCKING VIDEO GAMES THAT DID THIS BEFORE IT WAS FROWNED UPON. Honestly! wake the fuck up people! This isn't bad! its not an atrocity! IT'S A FUCKING VIDEO GAME! "Oh, but that one kid who shot up a school played that fuckin' Call of Duty before he went on his rampage" Oh really? So what video game did Charles Whitman play before he went on his spree in 1966 at the University of Austin Texas? TO THIS DAY, THE SECOND WORST SCHOOL SHOOTING IN U.S. HISTORY. What the fuck did you pin it on then, huh? People just LOVE to throw EVERYTHING out of proportion. I've been playing video games since I was 5 years old, first game I ever fuckin' played was Sonic the Hedgehog on a Sega Genesis that I still have today, the first "Violent" video game I played was fuckin' Mortal Kombat at an arcade, hell, There isn't ONE fucking video game that I own today that is rated below M or fucking Pegi 18 or some shit, i've been playing this shit for over 12 years! Have I went out and decided, "Hmm, look at that guy over there, I think I'm going to brutally murder him today!" I have trouble killing a fly for fuck sake! I'm probably the least Violent individual on the face of this planet! But when shit goes down, lets pin it on the video games. Great job people, great job. *SLOW CLAP ENGAGED*.

P.s. I still wouldn't play the game, but only because it has no actual story to tell.

Take GTA, remove story and you get this. I think it will be entertaining couple of evenings until it starts to repeat itself too much, probably worth from a Steam sale

It's trying so hard to be "edgy" (I hate using that word) that I can't even take it seriously. Especially that monologue in the beginning of the trailer, oh my! That was cute. Enough to make you crack a chuckle or two.

Yawn, they did this nearly 20 years ago with games such as Postal, Carmageddon (before they added zombies instead of humans) and GTA. I mean just find videos on Postal 1 and look how it's practically the exact same game.

Controversy aside it does look quite fun, but only if you can mute the protagonist because he's so fucking emo it's painful to listen to.

All of this negative press is just promoting the game for free, and that's all it is, a game. One with minimal storyline and dialogue, a pinch of tongue-in-cheek senseless violence and something to kill a couple of hours playing. It's not promoting itself as a AAA title or trying to win any votes as GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME, but it is what it is, and people that complain and protest about it have nothing better to do with their lives.
