This was a surprising first episode. I envisioned something totally different. Hazuki is hilarious.

Nice gifs. Those are some huge tears in the second one. She deserves real gold for that

Episode 1: Welcome to High School

God the animation was beautiful in this one. My eyes were very pleased.

Just decided to give this a shot since I am trying to fill up my week with something to look forward to everyday. And I wasn't disappointed.

Now I know nothing of band and it's terms or music, but I can tell that the band does sound a bit off, (I used to dance so I guess that gives me credibility to tell rhythm?...No it probably doesn't) and with the MC joining I can't wait til they produce something beautiful.

The characters are very interesting and colorful and beautifully animated and the story is enough to keep my attention. Looking forward to more beautiful stuff

An excellent start to the series. This is going to get a lot of nostalgia points for me as I played in band and orchestra through high school.

On a side note I think that's the first time I can recall seeing a teacher force the students to unroll their skirts and the students actually do it. The skirts still looked ridiculously short but I was surprised. Seems sensei will be a force to reckon with.

Episode 2

And now we see how Kumiko ended up playing the euphonium as nobody else wanted to play it and she was the only one without the instrument. And it looks like Asuka and Sapphire have formed a pairing, between "UFO" and contrabass. Hazuki has totally fallen for her tuba, while Kumiko is stuck with the euph once again. And then there's a vote to decide if the band wants to aim for the nationals or to take it easy and settle for just making fond memories, and the nationals won while Kumiko was torn. After some talk with Aoi, she is ready to go forward with the euph. That was really nice to see Kumiko become more sure of herself after what she went through.

Episode 2

Hmm interesting episode although pacing felt a bit slow. I suppose we'll learn more about Kumiko and Kousaka's relationship during their past later?

The teacher/adviser is also introduced in this episode and seems to be a good person. But I wonder how he will motivate the others beyond just letting the students choose their paths though since the Nationals isn't a pushover.

suuuuuper slow pace, but not slow enough that i was checking the timestamp all the time.

ED is still fun

some of the "drama" is still a smidge...immature?? dunno, will still watch. Wish Protag would tie her hair up. and also what happened to the character we were introduced to last week who just blurted out whatever came to mind, now all of assuden she pulls a complete 180 and stumbles over what to say all the time...

it's like midori and kumiko swapped personalities between episodes

i'm really bummed all the main three got into bass, i really can't stand megane, sooo and we'll prob be stuck with her now T.T

Definitely felt like a walking pace today. Highlights for me were the cute but artificial hug scene, and Reina playing the trumpet.

Agree on both - does Sapphire only gain confidence when it comes to a musical environment?

That arm mirrors the level of her desires.

The teacher seems decent, if a bit sly. Working towards the Nationals for the year sounds honorable, compared to say, after school tea and snacks .

As pointed out by mariokarter13 in the anime comments, an interesting way to spell "bassoon":

On to next week.

While watching this, I can't help but recall my own high school band days. Japanese schools are quite different. We had concert band, but it was a formal graded class. Marching band was the extra-curricular activity just like their concert band (it was the competitive band), but you couldn't join marching band unless you were in concert band (and not everyone did).

I laughed when she tried to blow the trumpet. Those cheeks alone, never mind the mouthpiece, had tuba written all over them. But that teacher... he's a bit too lackadaisical for me "whatever you want to do is fine with me". Let's not practice as hard?

Asuka has already clearly established her position as best girl
Put your hair back up Kumiko, you looked much better with a ponytail (to be fair, almost every girl does).

Really good slice of life, I'm enjoying it a lot. Definitely one of the top shows this season.

God, brings back memories. I played the 3/4s tuba in middle school then a full sized one in high school and some times swapped with a sousaphone (the one that wraps around your body), the damned thing is heavy as hell.

Euphonium is actually a much better instrument to play simply because it can play both melody and harmony parts where as tuba is stuck with bass.

Episode 2: Nice to Meet You, Euphonium

I am loving the animation for this series, everything looks so beautiful. Also, the voice acting is really good in my opinion.

Kumiko and Kousaka's past is still a mystery so I can't wait to see how we are going to tackle their story.

Asuka cracks me up she is so funny, and she's not that bad with English either, its pretty entertaining. Best girl in the series right now.

And Kumiko, you cannot escape your life partner UFO-kun, be proud of it.
