Well, I grew up (and still live) in the sticks in Oklahoma, everyone knows everything about hunting, fishing, farming, etc...

You don't ever really feel up to talking to anyone about anime; maybe what their favorite beer or sports team is, but not anything anime related.

I am very outside the norm where I live. I drive a WRX and use technology. My favorite color tractor is the classic green though.

My favorite knife is a Case XX Tiny Toothpick that I have had for 4 years now. My favorite engine (before my boxer engine in my WRX) was a 327, that I had in my shortwide Chevy.

Guns, take your pick. We have 30-30, 30-06, snub-nosed .357, 22's and shotguns for varmint....

Again, everyone hear looks at me funny because I hate country music. I grew up being tortured with it, I can probably sing any country song made before 2000, but I started picking my own music then, so not much after.

I don't farm, but I have some family who do.

Well, it made it to Florence, MS. 30-40% of the younger crowd watches and reads anime/manga/manhua. Not so much country as redneck, though. One year, I watched a few cosplayers walk along a road that was close to the neighborhood I lived at. Up here in PA, close to the farmlands? Yes. Most of the farmers in the Cambria area are Old Order Amish and Mennonites, however, who are barely a part of the 21st century. Don't even ask them about cell phones, much less, anime.

I'm city born and bred. I've had visits to country side. One was on a small island where you could walk to a beach no matter where you were there. We'd stroll to the beach and there'd be goats, sheep and cows around. We couldn't tell the difference between the sheep and the goats because both had short hair/fur since they're tropical animals. One day mid stroll to the beach we came across a cow, no bull, standing there in the middle of the road. We stopped and stared. We were afraid it'd get angry and butt us. It was huge. My siblings and I were 8,9, 10 & 11. Eventually an adult caught up with us (they always walked too slow and we'd run off ahead), and said just walk around it. The family we stayed with had a whole hillside full of fruit trees. Since mangoes were my favourite I looked out for some. I missed out when they picked the cocoa and ate the fresh beans because I fell asleep.

We moved to town where the urban area had begun to encroach on the countryside. We sneaked over to the farm to look at the horses. Had to cross the Bison field to get there. Bison in the distances began to run and it felt like an earthquake so we got out of that field pronto. There were also fields of sugar cane. I'd seen clementine orchards around. My friend, greedy guts, bit into one to suck out the sweet liquid. She'd brought us there to explore. She then mentioned that the farmer doesn't like intruders and that he'd got a gun.

Was anyone in the FFA or the 4H?

I was in 4H. I raised pigs for 3 years and raised a goat for a year. I hated the 4h group I was in, the leaders where terrible so I quit. But yes, I live in a country town. Even though there are three towns next to each other we live by a river so there's LOTS of fishing and we only live 45 minutes away from the mountains so a lot of hunting and camping around here. I hate country, no excuses me.... I hate rednecks. We have a lot of them around here and they are literally the dumbest people I know.

2 cylinder John Deere diesel tractor with hand clutch. Lots of fun to use and powerful for its small size.

Well - very roundabout and both. Oddly enough I prefer to live either in the deepest downtown urburbia OR well out in the country. At various times in my life, I have lived in both. I am really more of a horse person - a rancher - than a farmer. To me, you actually sound more like a gear head than a farmer - and I've been there, too. Old American Musclecars RULE. NASCAR - no thank you. I was an avid fan until about ten years ago. Now? Well, it isn't my father's NASCAR - and I think that's a bad thing.

I was in FFA and 4H both - hogs, rabbits, horses. Oddly turns out my wool allergy extends to sheep!

Tractor - IH although my plans only extend to enough sudan grass and alfalfa hay to feed my own horses and maybe sell a little for cash. Mainly I need one of those little Kubota jobs for a big vegetable/herb garden, and a small grove of fruit and nut trees. My one ton truck will be a Toyota Tundra. I prefer gooseneck to 5th wheel. I have cared for, trained, and ridden horses since age 10 in every discipline - I mean, EVERY discipline. I can (and have) barrel raced, jumped, galloped thoroughbreds, driven pony carts and draft horses, and rode saddleseat (gaited). My current passon/fantasy is keeping a few American Mustangs running wild. Since I've given up on the BLM, I hope to purchase a big hunk of the Caballo Mountains near here (yes, named because they were once FULL of wild horses) and turn a few hundred Mustangs loose to do what they do.

Guns. Never shot a handgun - more of a pump shotgun girl myself and a damn good shot if I say so. Given the population density of rattlesnakes in New Mexico - a necessity. Not to mention the occasional mountain lion and bear. I don't hunt or fish - was a vegetarian for over 25 years - but I do eat meat now and I'd rather eat wild game or fish than that hormoned/anibiotic laden feed lot trash.

For years I had whatever cheap pocket knife does the job. Then I upgraded (a gift) to a boot knife, double edged. My dream would be, I must admit, one of those Swiss Army jobs with everything but the kitchen sink (and I would like it to have a hoof pick, too please) - but remember, I camp and hike and kayak a lot so - yeah, that would be super handy.

I am not and have never been a country music fan. I cringe when they play it at horse shows. Mind you, I like a variety of music - from punk to blues and everything in between. The country I do like, I generally like either the sentiment (some Garth Brooks) or the singer (Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt - beautiful voices). So I can only say I like a smattering of country music from all decades - from the bluesy sounds of Hank Williams to Lorrie Morgan. But I'd really rather some Black Sabbath, Rage Against The Machine, or better yet - Bobby Blue Bland or Albert King.

Currently I live in a small town of 5000 that is 70 miles from the nearest excuse of a city (if you call a place with one park, one mall, a couple of museums, etc. a "city" - I don't). I love my desert and mountains - the more desolate and quiet it is, the better. One of these days, soon, I'll own a little piece of New Mexico - big enough for some chickens, a big garden, a few trees, and horses. If I'm really fortunate - a few acres of hay. I'll probably share/lease that with someone - let them worry about tractors and harvesting and take hay in payment. I'll have a few cattle, and probably a minor zoo of other animals as I am the Earth Mama who can't turn anything away. Oh, and some coursing/hunting hounds. Yeah, I have my vices.

Hey - we had Silver Spoon and wasn't it cool to see the agriculture schools of Japan? Oh yes, I even attended most of a semester for a Horsemanship degree at Rogers State College in Oklahoma - dropped out because of financial issues.

Green, yellow, red, blue, or something else. Which tractor do you prefer?

don't hav one but if I did it'd be a plain blue Ford tractor

Do you count on a Pete, a KW, a Freightliner, a Mac, an International, or something else to get your crop to the warehouse/processor/etc.?

I load and unload trucks, never paid much attention to the make

Got a favorite light duty diesel? 6.2 or a 6.5? Or maybe you prefer a version of the 6.6? 5.9 VE, 5.9 p-pump, 5.9 24v, 5.9 CR, or a 6.7? How about the 7.3? (skipping the 6.0 for various reasons...). Or maybe the 6.4 or a variation of the 6.7?

Never owned a diesel, but I'm a ford guy so I'll go with whatever they're putting out these days

Got a favorite gas motor? Take your pick. Like the 289, the 302, the 351 Windsor, the 351 Cleveland, or the 460? Maybe you're a fan of the 307, the 327, the 350, the 373, the 396, the 427, the 454, or the 502? Can't forget the 426 hemi or the 440 six pack.

351W by a long shot, got one with over a million miles on it by best guess, odometer broke back in the early 90's

Where do you farm? What do you farm? Wheat, barley, corn, alfalfa, or chickpeas? Tomatoes, squash, onions, garlic, or melons? Apples, pears, cherries, peaches, plums, or apricots? Quinoa, mint, daikon radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, or brussels sprouts?

I don't, but this is Tobacco country, or at least used to be.

Like guns? What's in the safe? Pistols? Rifles? Muzzleloaders? Shotguns? Something else?

SKS, .22 pistol

Got a favorite knife? Folder? Fixed? SOG? Benchmade? Spyder? Kershaw? Some piece of junk that cuts stuff after a trip to the grinder?

I carry an old Swiss army knife, don't care much for the stainless blade but you can't beat the utility. My Favorite is probably a Camillus survival knife I have.

What's your favorite decade for country music?

late 80's, some early 90's

This thread is probably going to die or get flooded with stupid comments, but can you blame a guy for trying?

yes

A lot of people seriously think I live in the outback/country because I live in Australia. No, I live in a city, just like you "mate".
