Nato and the UN are not stupid, and we have had our eyes on them for quite some time now. If Putin goes too far, they will respond accordingly, whether it be tougher sanctions or exclusion from NATO. Putin knows this, so I highly doubt he will push his luck further

lol i know it was a misprint, but couldn't help it sorry imagined: in the middle of the speech on secret NATO meeting: "... and by the way: why is Russia in NATO?! Weren't NATO formed to oppose them in the first place?! And yet they are a member and their guy on every meeting! Let's exclude them! - Yeah!... Passed unanimously!" and Russian guy cell-phoning home: "Boss, we've been uncovered! Going home."

Russia's not attacking. That's just Putin having a bowel movement. He did just turn 62. Get the guy some prunes.

Russia is a part of NATO? Does Russia know that? They seem kinda worried about NATO getting near their borders.

This is an episode of Hetalia: Axis Powers in the making. I can see it now...

Scene 1

NATO's member countries have gathered in a large conference room, and are all seated at a long oak table. America stands at the head of the table with a chalkboard reading "NATO General Meeting" written in white chalk

America: Alright, so now that we're all here we can go ahead and take roll call. Germany?

Germany: Present.

America: Britain?.

Britain: Yes, I'm here.

Canada: Uhm...excuse me. I hate to interrupt, but...

America: No, dude. Go on, um...who are you again?

Canada: I'm Canada, and I was just wondering why he's here.

[Canada points, cut to a tall figure clad in a tan overcoat and scarf wearing a rubber nose, fake mustache, and sunglasses]

Russia: Vat, me? I am just an ordinary member of NATO. Nothing special, really. Please, continue the meeting.

America: There, see? He just hasn't come up on the roll yet, that's all. Chill, brah.

Germany: Zis is painfully obviously Russia. Vat are you doing here?

Russia: No, no. This is all a misunderstanding. I belong here, I assure you.

Britain: Get out of here, you git!

[Eyecatch, HE-TA-LI-AH]

Scene 2

Places as before, with Russia now missing from the table.

America: There. Now that he's gone, we can continue. So like, I came up with this super awesome plan to make sure that we're all a lot safer from now on. It involves me looking awesome and heroic, as usual, but there are some parts that aren't so obvious...

Britain: Oh, this is unbelievable! [exasperated]

America: What? I'm the clear choice for the hero!

Britain: No, not that. Look at the damned window.

Cut to Russia crouching in the far corner of the room and beneath a window holding a small bush in either hand

Russia: Vat? Vere? I don't see anyone, only bushes.

Germany: Zis is ridiculous. I knew ve should've hosted ze meeting at my house. I have much better control of sings zan zis idiot.

America: C'mon guys, it's just talking bushes. Trust me, Tony's shown me way weirder things. Let's get back to talking about my awesome plan.

Russia: Yes, the bushes agree.

Britain: Get out of here, you git!

He'd certainly like them to believe that.

All levity aside, with all safeguards and mitigating factors and circumstances, this is still a very dangerous situation. If there is a spark to (Ed IG)nite the flames of war the world will burn, and at the very least innocent Russians will pay the price for being Russian.

every time i hear the word "sanctions" i lol and remember Cuba... how many US presidents did Castro out last before he finally was too senile? sanctions are nothing more than political theater intended for domestic consumption.. "see i reeealy am doing something. i sanctioned them" lmao.

Oh I remember the news that Russia was practicing aircraft attacks on Sweden at the beginning of last year and I thought this was really scary. And at the end of last year they placed out "robots" at some border in the EU and the news wrote that they can totally reach Öland, Gotland and south Sweden with their robots. After that there has been airplanes and now a submarine? I honestly think they are planning something and the fact that we can't defend Sweden on our own is terrifying.

russia pulling the same crap they always have.

and notice the airbrake on the sukhoi, there posing for the photograph.

rattleing the sabre, like they always have. i dont really care much. the reagan admin use to pull crap like run high speed bomber at soviet airspace and the peel back at the last minute. the big boys always want to show off and intimadate.

dont worry, pretty soon the chinese will be pulling this crap as well. they rank third.

that's all i got to say about that.
