The Forge

The Forge is a city built into the side one of the biggest chasms in The Fault. The Forge is responsible for most technological creations involved in other cities, with most of Erodels metals going to the creation of anything and everything that Erodel cannot make in their own factories.

The Forge has only two ways in, both are heavily guarded by Erodel Guards. The Forge is a safely protected city, aside from the possible fall to the bottom if one isn't looking where they are walking. To get around the city, elevators and gondolas were installed to get around the oddly shaped city.

Points of Interest

The Foundry- The central building of The Forge, called the Foundry as it is where most of the individual laws are put into play. Here is also where people are processed into becoming citizens of The Forge and for work. One building handles what six do in Erodel, often a joke among the two groups of citizens.

Everlast Mining Company's Headquarters- One of the most prominate mining companies, ran by a Sebastian Eriksson. This company holds the highest amount of processing in The Forge. To work for them you must report here and you will be assigned a mine.

Wall Rat Tavern
- Built on an inverted platform to prevent the "patrons" from stumbling off the side of the walkway. This establishment is known to handle housing for most miners here. Food and Drink are sold here, even a special brew that only miners and citizens of The Forge drink. Made from a special plant that is grown here, often gives weird side-effects to new drinkers.

The Forge Medical Facilities- Used commonly to treat Miners who have gotten ill from various things in the mines below. Most doctors here are qualified to treat anyone, due to Everlast's efforts to improve the well being of the miners. This place has facilities just like Erodel, but doesn't require citizenship to get treatment. Common room holds operating tables, so those miners who get injured can walk in and walk out when treated. If more intensive treatments are required, there are rooms available for those who need it.

Ani was at the Everlasting Mining Company's Headquaters with a bunch of other elvish protesters, some her age and older, very few younger, few elderly. They all held branches with giant leaves hanging off the tops and waved them around as they yelled, "No to expansion! No to expansion!" Some ore was found outside of Bastions fields and the mining manager was looking to expand his company and set up a small mining station there, Bastion would lose that field so they are hoping that if they convince enough workers to not relocate when asked to then they would forget this whole thing. Ani was very involved and fired up, yelling at workers as they walked around, "Stay home, stay with your families! Don't mine in Bastion! The ground is too unstable!" She was saying anything she could to get through.

A younger looking man stood on a balcony facing the protest, Smiling at the group, "Everyone, I hope you truly know what your protesting about." The man steps forward, wearing some odd outfit. "Is this an organized protest? Does anyone here take the leadership position?" Propping himself up with an even more interesting cane. "I'd implore you to step forward, I can explain everything to you. If you wish, you can ask any questions." A woman stands forward annoyed, as he holds his hand up "I am clearing my schedule today to explain this situation."

One of the elderly step forward, he didnt look too old, definitely had gray hair and saggy skin though. "Yes, this is organized. Cant you see we are a diversified group? Portraying that this decision will affect all age groups in Bastion. We understand that you are trying to expand your company meaning more metal production, more jobs. But none of those jobs will go to anyone in Bastion, and none of that metal will either, not that we need it. That field next to where you plan on mining will no longer be tillable, we will lose those crops, land, and money. What nonsense do you have to retort with?" He crossed his arms and Ani looked at him with a big smile, how moving! She lifted her sign higher and yelled, "Yeah!" And the others followed her.

The man looks at the elder that stepped forward, still keeping his smile, "I don't have a clever retort, as I am not going to war with you or your ideals..... I maybe Sebastian Eriksson, but I do have a viable reason. Do you know of the city who supplies food with the miners? Its Bastion, if I were to harm your land, I would harm my people. May I ask, what is the total count of farms owned by the city? Isn't it in the realm of about sixty separate farms, aside the ones that are personally owned by the ones who farm it."

Sebastian leans forward, You notice his oddly colored hat reflecting light, "One farm will not harm you, but I will say. I am going to stop there for Bastion. What damages are done, will be replaced with new farm land to the south. I am aware that it isn't the same as the one that is going to be destroyed, but I am not keeping the money. My company is going to give it to the ones who have no money to buy your overly priced goods." Holding out his hand as if he wants to shake hands, though obvious distance wouldn't allow it, "Give me a better compromise, and I will see to it that it will be done. I am a generous man, and if your people know of what I have done, you'll know I will keep my word."

The protesters didn't know what to think, that sounded like a good compromise. But the old man was not satisfied, this was still a win for them and just the start. "We don't want more farm land, we have enough just the way it is. We don't want any of your crap in our city, it hurts the crops and the people. If you'll agree to a cleaner and more environmentally friendly way to get your precious metal then we will consider it. But until I see a blueprint for a green factory then we won't have it!" He then continued to chant, "Go green! Go green! Go green!" And the other protesters chimed in, except for Ani. She thought about it and that wasn't a compromise at all, they didn't have the technology to go green yet, she knows, shes snooped. But she was in the middle of a project right now back at the shop that might solve this problem. The only way she sees she could help right now is to go and finish just that.

Sebastian looks at the elder, smiling directly at him, "Weren't elves supposed to be kindred spirits who dislike fighting. You are forcing your people to fight a war that is illogically insane." Looking over at the woman beside him then back at the elder, "May I ask, what would a elf know about technology. If you were handed a blueprint, would you know what to do with it? You'd look at it, complain, and hand it back due to your lack of understanding." Rolling his head, "Trust me, I have an assistant here who does the same thing." The woman glares at Sebastian. Sebastian chuckles, fully aware that she's upset over him saying that to the public, "If you bring me someone of elven kind with a blueprint, I will see to it that the plans go in full effect."

Sebastian holds his hand up, Speaking to everyone in the crowd "Even more so, I will put up a reward to any elf who can come up with these blueprints. I suspect it will take years for most of you, as most of you are inexperienced with the complicated work that goes into invention." The woman beside him hands him a piece of paper, Sebastian takes it and holds it to the crowd, "This right here, is a contract. If you bring me that blueprint, I will allow you to do what you want. No questions asked, I will even allow you to become a partner." Handing the paper to the woman, who puts it in a clipboard. The woman steps forward, "If you wish to want to give us the blueprint, you may enter this building. Keep your paper in tote, as our guards are weary on allowing protesters in. We will see to it that your plans go without any issues."

The protesters were outraged, screaming, "You're the one fighting an illogical war!" "Yeah nature always wins!" "Did you just insult us?!" "We've been around much longer than you have, we understand plenty!" "Like we would take your money!" "Or give you anything to destroy our land with!" "And who carries blueprints around?!" It was a cluster fuck. But the old man didn't say a thing, he just watched Ani as she walked away, he knew of her little gadgets in the shop and experience has taught him it doesn't stop there. Ani did have a blueprint on her, but it was just that, she had only just begun the prototype, and she couldnt come forth, she'd be outed as an elf. Although the money and power was promising, she'll have to come back later when there aren't so many people watching. At first she headed for the Foundry, but she just couldn't do this yet. She needed to muster up the courage to come forth, so she went to the Wall Rat Tavern for a drink.

Sebastian laughed as the protesters started screaming, "Might I say, you all proved my point. The people who fight for illogical means don't think about the means to victory, and spout off non-sense. Let me ask, where do we get these metals. Nature provides us with these ores to make into tools to make our lives better. Your elder said the if not for the factory designs, you'd be content with my initial offer. Correct." Sebastian awkwardly bobs his head. "You all question my ethics of putting this contract on the table, but if there is one elf who follows their ideals, and doing what they want, deserves to do what they want." Sebastian starts to walk inside, "I'll leave you all to think, Good day to all of you."

Sebastian and the woman walk inside, doors closing behind him. Still hearing the upset crowd outside.

The Tavern is light on patrons, mostly due to its currently working time in the mines. The bartender is seen cleaning out mugs and giving drinks to the few that are inside.

The protesters disperse shortly after and on their way out of town the elder sees Ani go in the tavern, he will talk to her tomorrow and see what she has to say about this before telling on her to her mother. What an unelf like thing to do. Ani had never been here before, in Bastion they had a vinyard, the wine was very delicate and hardly ever got anyone drunk. Elves were good like that, able to resist alcohols power over the senses. Ani certainly didn't get drunk off that weak crap, however just enough did get her tipsy. She'd been to others bar in Erodel...like once before, and drank a very watered down beer. It barely eased her mind. So she went to the bar and asked for their specialty, "Give me your best." And placed a couple shillings on the counter. (idk what currency we are using but i think thats what they used in steampunk times, and in most rps the drinking age is 16 or 18 so idk what ur preference is on tht either xD)

(Oh, wow I can't believe I forgot the currency..... UPDATING PAGES TIME. Its roughly coins with a cog on the face, and who ever is the queen/king on the "tails". Its just called coins as the currency is the same through all the cities, that and I haven't thought of the direct name.... I might end up using that name. I guess the Drinking age is roughly 16. Just people don't care to follow it in this world.)

The bartender chuckles, "I doubt a woman like you could handle our best. Though I guess I am someone who loves to be proved wrong." The man walks to a keg, and pours out a oddly blue liquid into a mug. Setting the mug on the counter next to Ani, "Its a step down from our best. Our best drinkers can't handle our best." The man starts to clean another mug, while seeing what the woman does. Other bar patrons start to watch to see what happens.

Ani gave him a raised eyebrow as she took the mug, "Oookkkkk, whatever you say bub." She sniffed it, then took a big sip, swallowed. With another look at the liquid inside the cup she then gulfed it all down and slammed it on the counter, "Wow! Yea, that's some really good stuff, I'll have another!" She put some more coins on the table and slid him her mug, definitely hit the spot, definitely better than elven wine. One more should be plenty, plus she didn't have that much money.

The bartender looks at the other patrons, completely confused on how she's still lucid. Walking back and taking the coins, bringing another mug, "Are... you fine after that?" Other patrons start to crowd around, just as confused as the bartender, One man speaks up, "Ron did you make sure you got the right drink?" The Bartender nods, "I'm certain." The bartender leans in, "Do.... you feel ANY odd effects?"

Hideki had finally arrived! He'd heard of a place brimming with ingenuity, and this city was definitely it. He allowed a faint smile to play across his lips as he gained access through the gates. This is better than I imagined he thought, as he made his way toward the center of town. Now to find every city's center of information: a tavern

His eyes scanned the various signs until at last they rested on The Wall Rat Tavern. Bingo He walked inside, admiring the place's charm as the smell of strong drink and sweat filled his nostrils. Upon noticing most of the patrons gathered around a female elf, he sat at the bar within earshot, deciding to wait until the bartender noticed his presence.

From a side door to the room, a waitress comes walking out with some drinks. Noticing the bartenders busy with his odd fixation. Starts walking to other patrons who aren't interested in meaningless drinking games. Walking over to Hideki, serving a table with four men wearing odd looking clothing, Nothing that is of miners attire, "Excuse the wait, my boss is dealing with a professional situation. What may I get you, Sir?"

One of the men leans back to whisper something to Hideki, "If I were you, I would drink the "House special", I hear its the best drink you will ever have." Another one chimes in, "Definitely, remember when your sister drank it." Three men start laughing as the other one starts yelling back obscenities at them. The waitress sighs, leaning in to whisper, "Don't mind them, they just want to trick you into drinking our ale. Its potent that an alchemist doesn't even handle with it. Test your luck if you want my opinion." Standing back up, holding a tray in her arms. "So, what'll it be?"
