That was quite wild and chaotic. Haven't seen any Macross prior, so I was expecting something with Mech. The singing and aerial combat mix was interesting to say the least. Looking forward to the rest of this in spring.

Cool concept and nice combat action. The singing and dancing made me cringe but the villain(?)'s song sounded pretty at least.

I enjoyed Macross Frontier but I have a few concerns... will this be yet another anime with movie spin-offs, PVs and a little spin-off gag series that will be impossible to watch in the UK? -_-

It is almost certain that we shall all be watching this one either with our pirate hats on or by waiting and importing the discs from Japan.

i liked it.

the music was solid.

the dog fights were like woah.

mechs.

the walkure show was a bit much. but i get it. it's used to distract the zentradi with the vars syndrome.

potential is there. and looking forward to do this.

oh. and did i mention mechs.

I don't mind watching it online in a pirate way. That's how I watched Macross Frontier. But the movies were ridiculously hard to find, there's a spin-off comedy spoof called Macross Fufonia which I can't find available in the UK anywhere and I've seen glimpses of other footage in AMV's, presumably from an OVA or PV which I can't find anywhere.

If there's going to be lots of footage forever blocked to the UK then the series, however good it is, will just cause me more annoyance than pleasure.

As always, blame^H^H F**K Harmony Gold for that.

It's just funny hats and eyepatches for Frontier here.

Regarding Delta specifically, I was never a huge fan of Macross 7, so seeing essentially the apotheosis of the idea of Battle Singers here disturbed me a bit at first. But I think I'm getting over it. Playing the heck out of "Ikenai Borderline" over the last week has helped.

A lot of it reminds me of Frontier, though that might be because the characters we've seen so far bear similarities to Alto (Hayate), Ranka (Freyja), Sheryl (Mikumo), and Brera (any of the Kingdom of Wind dudes).

Do I need to see any of the previous Macross series before I watch this one?

I read somewhere that this is a sequel to Macross Frontier set a number of years later. I watched Frontier without any Macross experience and liked it, so I recommend checking that one out. As mentioned earlier in the thread, the franchise isn't officially licensed, so you'll have to go to the dark side for it.

Hmm. I'm sure it's a good series, but I lack the time to watch it's entirety, unfortunately

Technically you need to watch Macross zero than frontier.
