OH MY GOD. IS THAT WHAT IT IS?! YOU ARE MY SAVIOR I DON'T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND; I'VE WONDERED WHY THE PICTURES WERE SCREWY FOR THE LONGEST TIME. XD ARIGATOU GOZAI MASHI TA

Yep. Not sure why its set like that, but it's certainly annoying since most gifs have transparency to save space... Anyway, now you know.

Same, or at least it was until I saw the field scene Clannad After Story....

"Is it alright to not hold it in anymore? Sanae-san told me... the two places I can cry are in the bathroom.... and in daddy's arms..."

damn, I started crying just making that gif...

the difference between Clannad and Anohana was that Anohana had that scene, just that perfect scene that gave a heartbreaking finale to the series, Clannad had a bunch of sad scenes that were accumulating till that shocking last scene (the one with the snow)

No problem and glad you liked the list, haha. I'm happy some people find it useful still after all this time because it took forever to make and barely got any recognition back when I made it oh well, I learned how to make gifs REALLY well from the experience.

I had planned to watch it but I just never got around to it since I started watching series instead... I may eventually since I heard it was pretty good.

Also I'll bring this back on topic by listing the saddest Anime film scenes I've ever seen-

-When the little kid dies in Grave of the Fireflies after he worked so hard to keep them both alive...
-The ending scene of Wolf Children. those feels...
-When the older sister finally finds Mei in My Neighbor Totoro. Simple movie but well executed.
-And the last scene of "Nausicaa" when she sacrifices herself to stop the Ohmu stampede

Admittedly they're not on quite the level of the saddest anime scenes because movies don't enjoy the same level of buildup, but they were still sad.

I'd say the scene of what happened to the dad was sadder than the end of Wolf Children.

The first time I watched it, I think I was more shocked than sad. But upon subsequent viewings it was indeed heartbreaking. I dont know, I probably still tear up more at the end scene just because of everything that happened to lead up to that point and then it ending with
.

Thats true, it really was a perfect ending scene. I cant say that about many other series. But through my tears it was still a happy scene. It's sort of a weird emotion... a combination of joy and sorrow that rarely occurs.

Apart from the typical moments mentioned, I'm going to go with the ending of Chrono Crusade and AIR.
