So I've been in Japan for a good couple months now and as fun as it is hanging out with random Japanese people at karaoke bars or with the occasional foreigners i bump into, it would be better to chill with some real Otakus. The people I work with don't have any real interest in japan outside of the food and or going to Roppongi to pick up girls . Anyways shout out to all the japan CR members. Lets get together and hit Akihabara up hard.

This coming April (2015) would have made it 4 years. I'll be just three months shy of that marker. I have nothing against Japan, and I love it here. I just cannot keep up with the city tax and crap insurance through shitty eikaiwa salaries. Maybe I'll get back to America and find out I want to be back here. But for now I think it's just time to go back.

How about you?

I'm in the military so with that comes sofa status which gives me a huge discount on car insurance, road tax ect as well as on base housing. Plus I get the luxury of an American bubble(we have a commisarry that sells american food and a small little department store.). I've been here for almost a year and I'll be here till 2017 unless I decided to stay longer which I can see happening since my wife loves it here too.

Oh, I thought you only got to Japan a good couple a months ago (a couple meaning 2ish). Yeah, the perks of the Navy for living in Japan is pretty nice. There's a base down here in Sasebo. I don't care so much about the American food, though. It's nice to have access to that sort of thing, though. But a lot of department stores have a lot of imported food. I guess I've never really had a problem with finding the imported food from America that I've wanted. I've become pretty accustomed to Japanese life though -- including the food. I make my own luncbox (bento) every night usually before bed, I eat natto, etc.

If you enjoy the perks and like the country, staying is a great idea. In regards to where one lives or what one does (for work), it really comes down to happiness. I love where I live, but I don't love the circumstances or my job. Financially I can no longer handle it as my tax only seems to increase. To be honest, the main reason I want to stay -- more than anything -- is because of kendo. I love the sport and back home the nearest dojos are pretty far by car.
