I have two dogs. One's called Juno and the other's called Bibi, and even then I don't think they mind. Names are just sounds they come to associate with being called back to their owner, you could probably call a dog dickface and it wouldn't be intelligent enough to match a meaning to the word. I knew of one woman who named her cat stupid, and boy did she sound stupid calling for it late at night. I also couldn't see myself calling for my dogs on the field and not going red-faced if they had names like 'Fluffy' or 'Snuggles' or 'Dandelion McSquidgybuns'. I much prefer more normal names, and while Bibi is even questionable, I don't find it sounds silly.

I think the only non human name I've ever had for a pet was my first dog named Turbo. All the rest have had at least semi human names. In some cases, it was a shortening of the breed name,

We named our boy dog Darwin. He seems to like the name.

What is an example of a non-human name? I am puzzled since all names come from humans.

Why does it matter? My cat's names are Tommy and Bella. They're cats, do you really think they're going to care?

Depends on what you consider "human" names. I have 3 cats right now, Detective Mittens the Crime Solving Cat, Lord Lion-O Leader of the Thundercats, and Gajeel the Metal Dragonslayer. Those are pretyy typical human names, right? Maybe? Hmmm, perhaps not...

I once had a pet cat, I called her the same name as an aunt of mine. The cat didn't seem to care. I didn't deliberately name her after the aunt. I just liked the name. It's only recently that I've noticed what I've done. Thankfully because of family divorce I hadn't come into contact with this aunt whilst I had the pet. It would have been too awkward to explain.

My Iguana is formally named "Iggy" but is always referred to as "The Iguana."

My Bearded Dragon is known primarily as "Little Buddy," and sometimes "Beardy" but nothing else.

Of course they don't care, so long as they get their daily grub.
