Don't really know what to say about this. I personally don't condone anything sexual about a child (Under 18 This is my opinion as I live in the USA). So I am quite glad he got sentenced and he should consider himself lucky, he was off easy on his second offense.

Are you serious it was a fictional character not a real child ffs.

I don't understand? Why didn't the people who drew the images get arrested instead?
What kind of silly law is this?

Oh wow, that is just...yeah, maybe he should get fined for it, but not a sentence.

He should only get fined if he stole it. Guy got busted for possessing a depiction of somebody's imagination. No kids got exploited at any point during this process. I drew a stick figure on a napkin once, I'm slightly worried the cops are gonna bust my door down with a warrant now.

Oh, don't worry. It's just lines. 2D lines, to make something that looks like kiddie porn. When in this reality, they could pretty much be over 18!

I'll make a stronger point. Why do people even want to defend a pedophile? Or is there any other reason why anyone would enjoy an image of underage children in sexual content, even when it's just a drawing? Heck I cringe from some of the stuff in normal anime.

Basically there are two theories. One, it's virtual and there are no victims. It may even temper his urges. Two, it might be a stepping stone as it will just entice him and drive him to do more extreme things over time.

I for one, believe in the second theory, as it is how most predators seem to operate (as seen in media). They start out small and slowly escalate their deeds. You can't just give in to your feelings a little so it would seem. Therefore arresting someone with clearly sexually intended images of anime minors is a good thing. It warns them and might prevent a crime further down the road. Besides it was his second offense, which clearly shows his desire to posses something that isn't legal. The risk of it being a stepping stone to the real thing is much to real.

i love the whole 'punishment before the crime' vibe. as well as the implied 'violent video games make criminals' vibe as well.

has on one seriously stopped and considered the double standard here?

if anime childern have rights, then why dont the GTA dead have rights?

This theory only holds water if you consider all those people who smoked pot moving on to crack as we all no they did, all of them.

That 100% accurate media. Uh huh.

Well, I guess, I'll take a break from my violent video games and go on a killing spree... Because obviously my insatiable desire to commit violent acts in a game will be transferred to real life. Man, telling real life and fiction apart is just so hard, these days.

Ah, there's no evidence that this guy is a paedophile though. That involves having strong sexual desires towards children, where as this guy only had it towards drawings.

Yeah just like how every Call of Duty player turned into a mass murdering serial killer.
