My Steam collection is pretty big, 271 PC games!
Too many games, too little time... *sigh*
A lot of them I bought from Humble Bundle which is cool because some of the money goes to charity!

I collect stuff from the Tales of series.
I love the Tales series and I currently have Phantasia, Destiny, Eternia, Rebirth, Symphonia, Legendia, Abyss, Vesperia, Graces F, Xillia, Xillia 2, Hearts R and Tempest 13 out of the 15 main games I believe. CE of symphonia, vesperia, Xillia and Xillia 2.
I also have figures of Milla, Ludger, Yuri, Estelle, Flynn, Raven, and Collete though I'm still looking for the 1/8th Rita.

As for figures I usually shop at AmiAmi for new, and second hand/pre owned figures while Manadarake I use for hard to find and random anime stuff, both are 100% legit straight from Japan.

I collect figures, video games, manga, and anime dvds haha. Also a little bit of Gunpla (small hobby whenever I might have a little extra cash in a month). I collect because it makes me happy, and probably also because I can be a bit obsessive so once I start something it's difficult to cut myself off from it.

The only stuff I actually take pictures of are my figures though, but I don't have any current ones of my collection right now. The last full room shots I took were back in April and I've gotten quite a bit of stuff since then. So I'll link this instead, since it's a listing of everything I own:

I first got into figure collecting back in 08. I went out to a convention in California to see An Cafe (who was one of my favorite bands at the time), but when I saw the figures in the dealer's hall I thought they were really gorgeous so I just wanted one to put on a shelf in my house. My first figure was Yamato's Simca - http://myfigurecollection.net/item/1175 . I ended up liking it so much and couldn't stop staring at her though, that I ended up getting a few more at the convention, and that started my downfall. Now I've got over 400 of the suckers. Since then I had also started figure blogging on a review site, and I go to conventions to do figure panels to talk about bootleg versus legit and have fun with fellow collectors (or those interested in starting). It's been such a blast of a hobby and I'm glad every day that I got into it because I've met some of the coolest people through it. <3

If you're looking for ways to distinguish between real and fake, by the way (just realized so this is an edit, sorry, got really excited to see the thread and didn't read the entire post), http://www.myfigurecollection.net is ALWAYS a good source to go to. When you search up an item, it'll tell you whether there are any bootlegs that are known, and then users will upload pictures of the item culprits. Some of the best ways to distinguish a fake is from shiny skin, bad and/or blotchy paint, and things not being in the boxes the way the official pictures show. The price is also a huge indicator if you're talking about a website that isn't Amiami or Mandarake or another actual official website that ships out directly from Japan. On Ebay or other secondhand websites used all over the world, a good indicator of a bootleg is also if the item is shipped out of China/Hong Kong. Those are almost always fakes (and they tend to have super cheap prices to come with it).

I also made a post about one of the figures that a friend had the bootleg of and I had the real product of, so this'll help you understand too:

http://ishokuosero.com/2012/09/13/bootleg-awareness-2010-racing-miku-18/

Side by side comparisons, I find, are the best way towards understanding.

Its so much fun collecting things you like, and now you have a blog about it, thats awesome. And the reason I quoted you is because you said An Cafe 08, and right away I was thinking you came to Fanime in California, which is awesome cause I love that con, and I still go. And I have a MFC too, mind if i add ya?:)

I collect video game limited editions that have statues it is my one weakness the most I ever spent on one of these limited editions is $249.99 plus taxes for the Titanfall Collectors Edition that comes with an amazing 18 inch statue of the Atlas Titan it's damn sexy! But again most of the stuff I collect is game related but I am a huge Godzilla fan so I own a lot of SH Monster Art Figures of Godzilla with varients, Mecha-Godzilla, King Ghidora and Mecha, Destroya, and Space Godzilla I also have a few Master Grade and Perfect Grade Gundam that I built when I was in High School Mainly G Gundam and Gundam Wing

Found a picture of that titanfall statue

I collect Anime because not all of it is streamed. And even when it is streamed, sometimes it comes with commercials, or I do not want to deal with the bandwidth or anything else. Plus physical media comes with extras, something the streaming versions do not always have.

Another point is that I like being able to just pull something from a shelf and watch it and not have to worry about whether or not it is still licensed or anything. When you physically own it, a lost license does not mean much. Sure the popular stuff will probably always be available, but why take the chance? And then there are the other ones that were good, but just not popular enough to warrant a rescue. I wonder if we will ever see Maison Ikkoku again for example.

It is nice when someone says "gosh I never had a chance to see XYZ show" I can almost always be able to say "well, I have that so come on down whenever".

My collection isn't that fantastic.

I have around 93 games on my shelf, 50 or so on Steam, a few PS3 games lying about downstairs and god knows how many that have been thrown away/given away/sold. I currently have a functioning PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, PSP and a broken DS. As for anime, I don't own many - Durarara!!, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Outlaw Star, Orphen and .hack//

These are some pictures from my Instagram.

(then I bought a shelf)

I have no real anime collection, a minor manga collection, but, and this is really embarrassing, but a Yu-Gi-Oh card collection that is surpassed only by hobby shops and a few other people who have been collecting for 10 years.
