I have a MASSIVE collection of a franchise called Muv-Luv. I collect because it's a passion of mine.

I remember when Sou Miyata was at AX in 2010. Even though he's fallen out of grace, I still feel lucky to have gotten a couple sketches from him.

Wow! Y'all made my morning! I enjoyed reading more why you collect and sharing your collections!

Thank you!

- Ikaruga1, I never heard of that anime, and it looks Mecha. Since you are a big fan, I will definitely add to my list to watch!

I just buy my favorite animes on blu ray, the complete collection versions and I don't have to worry about region lock garbage because I have a blu ray drive (so I can buy whatever I want from any shop online). Like Clannad & After Story, Spice & Wolf, Steins;Gate, Another, Highschool DxD, Getting Attack on Titan soon, and the monotagari series that comes out on blu ray (complete) next month in the UK. I would buy a few figures maybe of my fave girls but the whole delivering, custom charges, handling charges, it confuses me.

I collect BJDs (Asian ball jointed dolls). I got into this hobby thanks to anime^^ it is my favorite hobby so far.

What do I do with these dolls? I paint them, and create backgrounds, personalities, stories etc the good thing about BJDs is that YOU create them and there can be 100 dolls of the same mold but they are all different because of the owner's creativity. I also love to take pictures of them. BJDs just make me more creative when it comes to painting, making clothes(don't do it often), writing and photography.

This is the biggest forum for them DoA (it is not 100% open to general public) and this is the place where I upload pictures of my collection my flickr.

I used to collect manga but not anymore.

Nicee collection! I wanna finish that series now lol.

Thanks! And haha, see the thing is that the anime wasn't all that shabby, but it wasn't horrible either. You really have to have a little Muv Luv know-how to fully understand things. What started me on becoming a die-hard fan were the visual novels; how emotional and impactful the storyline and characters were...and MECHS lol

Yeah, I was hearing some stuff a while back with him tracing Infinite Stratos artwork or something. But even though something like that was true, I also feel you are very lucky to have gotten those sketches. Envious even haha. Been trying to collect everything Muv-Luv for a while now; still on my journey.

Lol, you will either love it or hate it. As I mentioned earlier, there's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to Muv-Luv. Since the anime itself is about the spin-off and not the main story arc, you'll be missing lots of info pertaining to the Muv-Luv universe. But if you love mecha (like I do) and aliens getting blown up by said mecha, I think you'll enjoy it. I must say the animation and artwork are pretty top notch as well.

I collect anime figurines. I don't even honestly have the budget for it, but I manage anyway. I have slowed down quite and become more picky on what I want to own, so that helps. As for why...I really love art, and figurines are just such a lovely form of art. Video games and such are as well, but it takes a bit more than staring at them to be able to get the content and inspiration from them, so I prefer the simpler things when it comes to collecting I suppose.

As for distinguishing the bootlegs and counterfeits, telling the difference in person is pretty easy. The paint jobs, sculpting, details, and material are just on a much lower quality scale. At least if you've seen pictures or something of the original, you'll know. Online though, it's a bit hard to know since you can't be sure if the pictures are of the actual product. Usually I just go by price. If it's cheaper than you can find on most other online stores, it's more than likely fake. I also stick with websites I know don't sell counterfeits for sure: AmiAmi or HobbyLink for me.

I used to colect trading cards, and I might as well start collecting again. I don't have tha many rare cards though, but I'm planning to put all rare cards in a single binder. Oh, an my cards are Yugioh, Pokemon, Cardfight Vanguard, Kaijudo, Naruto, and a couple of WWE Topps Cards.
I really want to buy the Kill la Kill Weiss Schwartz Trial Deck. That would be great for my collection. I hope they make Akame ga Kill related trading cards soon.
