I'm also hoping that the fantasy side has something to even the odds. Because medieval armies vs modern military sounds like a one-sided snore fest. in the middle ages, grouping your men together made sense, but it would be suicide today. I would hope that the other side has a nuanced portrayal too.

Magic use, perhaps?

I haven't read the original material, but I'm guessing the initial invasion through the gate went like this:

Enemy forces, day 1: Ha! This is easy!

Enemy forces, day 2: What the hell have we gotten ourselves into! Run away!

To put is another way, attacking civilians in densely populated city of a peaceful country would be easy. Even riot-equipped police would be overwhelmed. But once tanks, helicopters and troops with automatic weapons show up, you would feel as though you had run into a buzzsaw.

I expect one thing that would help the balance is that airpower on the other side of the gate would be limited. Even after establishing a base on the other side, the relatively small ground level gate would mean everything would have to be trucked in, including aircraft. You also wouldn't have the advantage of GPS or satellite communications.

As long as the enemy forces used traditional tactics, the JSDF would have the clear upper hand. Once they resorted to guerrilla style tactics, however, the fight is prolonged.

I just wish We knew who was going to be streaming this. Been anticipating it for a long time.

And regarding the technology versus primitive thing, magic and fire breathing dragons tend to level the playing field just a bit.
Plus remember that Modern Japan is invaded first, slautering hundreds of civilians and taking captives as slaves. The invaders get what they deserve.

That makes sense, I hadn't really thought about the logistics of getting stuff there. I think I saw dragon knights in the trailer, so there's certainly going to be some fantastic troops. I guess even if they defeat the fantasy side easily, then you could create tension by giving the heroes tough choices. Like if a town is hiding enemy troops what do you do? Burn it down? could be interesting.

Personally I think it would be more interesting if the fantasy side were the good guys, I like rooting for the underdog.

I have a bad feeling, however, about why she ended up with those clothes (which are obviously from our side of the gate).

On a lighter note, there is also the question of whether girls on other worlds or alternate realities also prefer pink panties with bows on them, or if those were also provided by our side.

This pretty much. They found her soaked in a well with a head concussion, so they did the typical Japanese thing and stripped her naked, and gave her a shirt and jeans later. Which they just so happen to have.....

Anyways, there needs to be more elves in t-shirts and jeans.

Uhg, WHY did they do that to Rori. They even gave her pink pantsu. She's supposed to have lacy black. Ruined everything. I blame K-on.

Don't you know that elves are the offspring of the devil, meant to tempt people into sin?
