So I'm guilty of it sometimes. I'll look at the cover art or promo images of a series and immediately draw up a plot and conclusions for it. This leads to me missing out on certain series till the buzz gets around or sometime I'm right and end up dodging a series that's not for me. Anyways lets post cover art of anime and give a brief plot summary for it. Someone is bound to have seen what we've posted and tell us how close we've gotten. Obviously this will only work for series you have not seen :vicx:

The main character(blood lad I presume) wants to be the king of his new transfer school but soon finds out that his school is filled with powerful demons vying for supremacy of this "school". Blood lad would be worried IF he didn't have powers of his own!(my guess is either lightning powers because of the bolt on his shirt or maybe vampire powers due to the garlic clove on his belt if thats what it is)

p.s I missed most of the anime titles in 2013 so i just googled "anime 2013" and picked the first series that caught my attention.

(This is based off the two episodes I've seen, I just wanna keep this thread going)

That's not quite it. Basically, this girl (who's conveniently not on the cover) accidentally goes to the demon realm, which is basically a town locked in a constant gang war lol (at least the place where she is). While there, Staz (guy on the cover, ruler of his turf, also an otaku vampire) falls in love with her, but she dies pretty soon thereafter. Luckily, her ghost remains in Hell, so Staz goes on a quest to resurrect her. He also just has to do this while balancing his duty as the head of his turf. It's a parody.

You got right:
Demons
Vying for supremacy
MC is a vampire
He's very powerful
He is Blood Lad

Wrong:
Not about school
He's already the king lol

Fractale

The MC and his 2 love interests live in an idyllic steampunk world. His main wish in life is to get to that sky station thingy. They run into trouble while trying to build that aircraft they're on but it eventually happens. Once the government catches wind of his ambition, they go out of their way to try and stop them all. Naturally, his quest remains largely the same, it just turns out that the sky station holds the key for him to dismantle the corrupt government at the heart of his society. Or something lol. Also, there's a dramatic love triangle that makes the main quest much harder I'm sure.

(This premise already doesn't hold up in my head, but it's the best I can do lol)

That sounds pretty decent. The only thing that worries me is the parody aspect as it sometimes gets waaaaaaaay out of hand, but I guess thats the point.

As for Fractale I haven't seen that either however the first part of your description it sounded pretty spot on...that last part tho

Actually Fractale is about this whole big augmented reality thing where like half of the people you see in the streets are actually just like avatars and AIs. The story actually was adventurous on the outside but had dark undertones. Sort of think like a cross between Dennou Coil, Laputa, and Now and Then, Here and There. There was a whole big religious thing going on about this cult who worship some mainframe computer or something and are trying to reset it. It's a weird show.

I don't remember exactly, but I think that the shorter girl is an AI and is the heart of this girl that lived a long time ago, and the taller girl is a genetic clone of the same girl.

Well it's a mainly visual medium of entertainment, so I am on the boat of judging an anime by its cover. Speaking for myself, if I don't like how it looks, I probably won't enjoy it as much as if I did enjoy the art. Honestly if I don't like the art it becomes a distraction for me and my immersion is broken. One can a get some good info about the anime just by looking at a cover. Things like color, and character design should be able to give one a hints about the tone of the story.

Are there exceptions? Of course there are, just look at shows like Madoka, might look all nice but we all know how that one turned out. Even still my point above still follows me around I don't like the art Madoka has so I have yet to watch it, and I probably never will. But hey that's just me and my two cents on the matter.

Shin Sekai Yori

These 5 kids with psychic powers play around a lot. They're cheerful and don't give a care in the world. It's a slice of life series.

*Watches Shin Sekai Yori*

Well that escalated quickly...

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Some little girls gain magical powers and fight evil alongside their cute little mascot thingy. Their main fighter is the one in pink named after the title of the series and she is the first power ranger magical girl. It's a very cheerful series.

*Watches Madoka*

Usually I don't ever judge by the illustration or cover. But If it's a magical girl one I'll almost always pass right by it. Or if I flip through a manga and the main character appears weak. They just aren't for me.

Well, if it is a mecha anime, i'l leave it. Code geass is of course an exception but it is not a fully mecha anime.

I was going to post this one. This is the single most misleading cover poster I've ever seen. Like what were they even going for here? "Complete and utter bloodbath" is not the phrase I would have described the bright colorful happy artwork with. And yet, there it was.

Never in your dreams would you think,
