Honestly i think its silly for someone to find a legal streaming site stupid. You get a good quality player, its pretty cheap to get a membership, and all of it supports the anime industry. Ill never understand why fans think they are superior for watching shows illegally. I get that sometimes its the only option (as not everything gets licensed or picked up by crunchyroll) but I find this site to be a real boon to anime watchers.

Crunchyroll only has a handful of anime for Europe and they also remove older anime.

There's lots of people who's annoyed by the subs. Mostly translation (some complaints may be legit, other are weeaboo crap like the removal of certain honorifics), lack of special effects/special lettering, lack of Karaoke. Personally I think they're okay. Netflix subs, now THOSE can be atrocious. CR's have a nice readable font. I would enjoy it if there was an occasional tidbit of variety and most importantly I would GREATLY enjoy a romaji karaoke for OPs/EDs (I like it, it makes me learn new words), but that's something they could do to improve, for me, not something I blame them for.

Really the only legitimate complaints are quality related. CR's subs are on-par with most quicksub groups, that is, "they're alright". Naturally a dedicated subbing group that takes their time and cares more about quality is going to be better. Translation quality is ok, could be better. The lettering is better than BD and CERTAINLY better than DVD, but not as good as a quality fansub. Lack of music subs and karaoke is pretty bad. Being a streaming site, audio and visual quality suffers if you care about that kind of thing.

I'll watch a show here if I don't really care that much about it, but if it's something where quality really matters I'll go elsewhere.

Those friends of yours... wow, I mean, I get watching anime illegally, but hating on legal stuff? That's just strange.
Though the selection isn't that big due to licensing and stuff like that plus the money, it's still great, plus you can still get your goodies for free and with pretty nice quality. Plus, it's nice that it keeps track of your time too.

Huh...makes me wonder if those friends even support the anime that they're all into. I can't say that people should waste their money on anime merch, but if they're gonna complain about good legal stuff...I wanna see them actually not just being jerks who do a bunch of illegal stuff without say, buying some merch for their favorite animes that they watch. If they're hardcore, it probably wouldn't be too much to go to an online Asian merch store or anime store or Amazon to buy one volume of anime maybe once a year.

From what I have heard, I think it may have been because Crunchyroll used to be a website for illegally made fan subs/dubs that they would profit from, without giving to the creator, but a few years ago, they started airing actual dubs from actual creators, so it's really their history

I think Crunchyroll is set up better than other streaming sites. I mean It's one of the few sites out there that doesn't get DMCA take-downs or has a billion ads all over the place and chatango. It's also not Hulu, so there's that.

Yes people hate on croll.

or should I say, idiots hate on croll.

Crunchyrolls subs are fine btw. People are just dumb and since they are paying for it they expect te subs to also be god-like. They are fine the way they are.

The only beef I have with watching anime on croll sometimes is the censorship, and that isnt even on crolls end.

The people I know that hate on crunchyroll are very proud of themselves when they say they don't care about legality
I wounder how proud they'd be if their favorite show never got a new season because no one supported it?

Lol, how about this- If they can give valid reasons as to why CR is "bad", then I'll accept their complaints. First off I wouldn't use SAO as an example, yes some people do just hate it over the over-hyped out treatment it gets, but others actually constructively take a look at the plot and realize it isn't there(besides the first 2 episodes) and please don't take it the wrong way this isn't me hating on SAO, this is me comparing it to any anime with a plot, Steins; Gate comes to mind, where things actually happen for a reason and solve some kind of issue that leads to character development, not just Slash-Death-Slash-SuperpowerUpAwesomeMCPlotArmorAttackGo-Death-Slash-Fanservice. I will say that I did watch every episode and am still watching the new episodes of SAO(hopefully the new arc will be cool, glad we're back to swords again too) but it just is eye candy to me, nothing intellectually stimulating. Though merely calling something "gay" and/or "not cool" isn't even criticism, it's just an insult to people who are trying to make a living out of watching, streaming, subbing, selling products, etc about anime. I understand we live in an age(I'm 19 so don't think I don't understand what "kickass torrents" are and that everybody just pirates shit) where everything is too convenient, even our physical/social/emotional needs are literally spoon fed and delivered right to our doorstep or handed down to us, but we need to learn that there are things in life worth working for and that's because it all ties in to each other as we're all indigenous populace of the same planet meaning our environments are intertwined both economically and topographically. Anyways to cut it short, you're giving people jobs and actually helping people survive in a world that is a business(meaning it runs off cash) for watching anime at your convenience, not to mention I also have a Funimation and Hulu subscription(not saying these sites are "Godly" or best of everything, or really even defending it. Moreover just criticizing the fact people think they are somehow entitled to products that others put massive amount of work, time, money and usually emotions into so that they could survive and prosper, only to be exploited by the fact that a business cannot prosper without internet thus somebody uses their hacker bullshit to then pirate/sell their product for themselves illegally totally disregarding the fact that the point of your product was mainly about making the money back, as well as feel rewarded for the time and effort you've put into said process of creating the product thus eventually profit off said product to prosper as a human being, plus the person made it has the right to sell it or give it out for free, you shouldn't and can't truly believe it's your right to view his product simply because you heard it's good or want to it's their product and they have say to who gets a piece of the pie, so to speak. Also this wouldn't be the case if everybody didn't enjoy having their valueless paper in their back pocket, but because we seem to want to live off each other's paper trails it's just the way life is. It's like me fucking your wife, and just assuming you'd be fine with that, or simply not caring. Tis a pirates life for me!) which could be equated to as "fair". Whereas pirating anime means you're sticking a middle finger up to every other person who created it, watches it, buys it, sponsored it, produced it or sold it because you're too worked up on your own self-satisfaction to help anybody else out. So if you asked me why I pay people money, it wouldn't be because "I have to" or "it's what it is".... it's because other people want to be happy as well and if 7 dollar bills can achieve that... well shit, I'll be more than happy to comply. Also you can't beat 1080p, first release, uncensored(lol well if they can, meaning if they can't pirating also can't as there is no uncensored out there) and having it play on your xbox, plus I have my entire Queue set up so that each anime's theme relates to one another and so I can always watch any of my favorite shows. I can't tell you how many animes I have forgotten about just because I used to think I somehow deserved to watch the animes I wanted to watch regardless of the fact that I am doing nothing to help or give back or even acknowledge their efforts(it's called immaturity and naivety) thus I pirated multiple animes for quite awhile and it worked out until I broke my desktop. Now I have my laptop which is a macbook air so it doesn't store too much, also it can't connect to my TV so these legal sites that store the massive amounts of anime's data is a huge help in that department.
