A whisky liqueur named fireball have been banned in some EU countries because it contains too much propylene glycol (I have no idea of what that is...). And apparently is dangerous.

So what do you think? Is it a good thing when different governments ban things due to them being "dangerous", have anything like this happened to something in your country?

With the name "fireball" of course it is dangerous. But seriously I don't drink whiskey.

Propylene glycol is currently exempted from REACH registration. As such with within the EU it bares no warning signs or GHS codes, as it is legally classified as harmless. -wikipedia

I do see something about inappropriate marketing and their ads getting banned or something.

To those of you wondering what it tastes like.
Think very strong cinnamon candies mixed with whiskey.

Though I can't see it being anymore dangerous than jagerbombs.
I would also like to see the source.

If this is in fact true, I feel so sorry for the people in countries it's banned in. Fireball is the best! (especially sitting around a campfire)

On the assumption that this is true, I need to invest in some buckets to contain all of these tears. Why must the world hate on the things I love?! Gonna keep counting my stars that I don't live in Europe. Also a sigh of relief that I never had to endure prohibition. I have nightmares about that, no joke.

I prefer a nice bourbon, but Fireball tastes pretty good. I'm bummed that we still can't get authentic absinthe here in the States--the stuff that helped kill all my favorite poets (yeah, I'm a Decadent!). Ours is a watered-down fake, and a bad one at that (no thujone=no love)!

I like rum and so I don't feel strongly about this one way or the other. However, I felt compelled to post.
