How do you cope with being all by yourself, with nobody to lean upon or share yourself with? How do you manage when you have to hide and wall yourself away from others?

Discuss.

Personally, I don't need to cope with it, as I prefer it this way.

I didn't really know you had to cope with being alone. I just kinda naturally exclude myself.

Honestly, I just enjoy everyday however I can. I still have my family and friends back home in Chicago, but I chose to live here because I wanted solitude. I'm a bit of a loner and recluse to begin with, so it doesn't bother me at all. I have my dog Stewie, and one of his offspring Penelope (cute little puppy). They keep me busy when I don't want to be at times lol.

Also, I have found myself doing a lot of reading over the last 2 years as well. I just feel so at peace with myself most of the time. However, there are times that I miss being married, and such. But, I have no desire to pursue it any longer. Not sure why, I just don't strive for it anymore.

I just dont fit into anything, so I'm naturally excluded. Guess you learn to live with it.

I start getting productive by doing the things I enjoy as a hobby. For example, I like running, so I go out and run, and the sight of other people usually makes me feel better. I also have tons of other hobbies that I'm always preoccupied with, so being lonely never really bothers me at all. Besides, I still have the internet.

Regarding dependency, I have never wanted or needed a shoulder to lean on. I always believe that time spent doing something practical and beneficial would be time better spent than brooding and moping over something.

I work a third shift, so I'm alone most of the day while everyone else I know is at work or in school. I cope by keeping busy in a variety of ways. I go golfing when I can, watch my recorded shows during the week, text my family, play video games and work on my hobbies. The weekend comes pretty quick and then I'm with everyone I was missing during the week. It's not fun feeling lonely or being alone all the time. If you have an opportunity to find a group of anime lovers like us, then you know we're all watching anime together! lol

I just think about how productive I can be now that no one is around.

Most of the time, like Phersu, I prefer being alone. Only because it is even tougher to be with people. Not that I don't spend time with others, but I have to admit I try to avoid it. Sometimes I stay away from people because it is too much for me. I feel as if I don't fit in with anyone. I don't think I am some unique snowflake or something. The problem is I have difficulty connecting with others and getting them to understand me. I have been hurt a lot in the past, which makes me distrustful. Unfortunately, when I occasionally let my guard down, my trust has been broken again .

But at least I always have a lot going on in my mind. When I would rather be alone, I use the time to be be productive and creative. Or I waste the time reading manga, watching anime or playing games. Either way, I try to make use of my time alone. I still believe that there are a lot of good people out there, but I have encountered a limited amount of them.

I'm never alone. I always have my trusty shadow to keep me company.

what does 'coping' mean?
ah, just goggled. thank you Google lol. i stress out too much... it's usually over trivial things. i have a tendency to stress over insignificant details so i try to not give leeway for detail checking to crop up. especially when i know that it will lead me on to waste a large amount of time.

I like being alone because that's the only time i feel like I don't have to impress everybody. When I go to work I wish everybody would just leave me alone and not talk to me.

I probably became this way because of certain things that happened when i was growing up. Molded by certain incidents and whatnot.

Buuuuuut I enjoy being alone. Because when you're alone the only one who can judge you is you

Crying myself to sleep usually does the trick.

I second this, when I was out of school for several months I learned a LOT more than when I had been in school. (Also of course doing my regular school work at home) During the period I was out I learned a lot of Japanese and some German. Got much better at playing guitar. Learned about some World War 2 history from the USA perspective and from Japan's perspective. Along with learning more about Japanese culture and history too. So overall, yes, being a loner can be very productive !

Note: Still am very ill though due to the Doctor saying that it would be a better idea to reintegrate me into the school setting I am currently doing part days at school.

I simply ignore the problem if there isn't a easy way to deal with it. Life is too short to worry about anything and deal with people.
