Really depends, if you're doing it just to increase your chances of getting items from desperate guys, yeah.
Otherwise no, in GW2 I have 2 female characters. One is representing an anime character, another because I really like how the female looks in that certain profession.

I usually play as my own gender, but sometimes it's really fun to play around with character creation as a guy! People can usually still tell I'm a girl because of how elaborate my character names are. :/ In single player games I do it to unlock all the romance options and get all the achievements. :p MUST COLLECT ALL THE THINGS. Some of the straight female companions in Dragon Age are a lot more fun to talk to than some of the straight males!

I don't think so, as a teacher who played world of war craft once told me, why do I wanna stare at a guys body all the time.

Hahaha, from the games I play Women start out with more Agility points while Male are slow as hell.

Kinda sexist if you ask me, but yeah- I literally have to announce I'm a guy so no-one will be trying to "grind" on me for the entire game.

I mean there are those times on Omegle when I pretend to be a woman just to see how stupid some men really are when talking to a woman, but that's a different story all together.

My friend once told me," why the hell do you want to look at a guy the whole time I rather look at a girl."
Made sense to me I never questioned the idea since.

I don't think so. Depends on why you play games. If you play games to self-insert yourself into fantastical stories etc. then it's natural you would pick your own gender.

But if you're like me and you play games to escape from being you for a bit then it makes sense that you would choose a character different from you. So I normally pick female characters or elves and stuff like that. Often you get a different, more interesting viewpoint than picking the boilerplate male character.
