Nope. I tend to alternate between male & female characters.

Depending on the game, sometimes there's different story elements depending on if you're male or female.

If the game doesn't have a female character I would just play as a guy

I like playing as a female character. I guess my reason could be that I get so used to playing as a male character in a game that playing as a female character feels like a change of pace, especially when she's capable of doing anything just like her male counterparts.

Then again, I like womens. ♥

I think most games now are going to have both male and female characters, game designers are more enlightened and for example when Persona 3 was re-released it included a female version of the protagonist.

I don't really like playing as the opposite sex but I see nothing weird about it...

No... being a female, and female characters being only recently becoming more popular, I have often played male characters, both by choice and not by choice.

No, I don't know about you but, female gamers have been playing tons of male characters for a long time, since most lead characters are indeed male dominated.

like many have said there are a lot of variables that go into it, rather than just "do I want to play male or female?"

story elements, model animations, voice work, personality, moveset.. yada yada. for me, sometimes it's simply a matter of liking the way the female of a certain race/class/whatever casts a spell, or swings her weapon. then on the other hand, i'll play a male for the way he looks in certain armor, for the different dialogue and vice versa. many things can be classified as weird, but a matter of choice like this i can't really see it. just play to have fun!

Not really, but I always assume whoever picked the male character is male, and same with females.

it's occasionally weird to me, such as my friend picking only female characters and never playing a male unless he has to. Generally speaking though I haven't a problem with it. I'm past thinking people actually play as their own gender, sadly many guys play females for the attention other guys give them. The "less" weird ones play as girls to stare at their pixelated assets. I'll mostly play as a male character unless there's an actual bonus to playing a female.

Time to Time, depends if I want to be fully immersed in the game.

Hmm, well I imagine that one reason people play a game as the opposite gender is for the fantasy aspect. (Guess what I'm trying to say is a guy would play as a girl to experience what it is like to play as a girl? and vice versa). Of course, there is the occasional pervert moment (that I, myself have succumbed to ...)
