This is also happening on my iPad. There isn't an error message the picture just freezes but the progress bar continues counting toward and sometimes you can still hear the audio (sometimes not). When the video resumes its after about 10+ seconds and you've missed a part of the show. It happens each and every time in the exact same spot. For example: 6;41 to 6:50 of SAO II episode 4.

It also happened while I tried watching Dusk Maiden of Amnesia and Love, Chinibyo and Other Delusions.

This has been happening to me on my AppleTV all morning.

Edit to note: The website has been working fine during this time period.

This has been happening on my apple tv for the past few days every 30 seconds or so it will freeze but the timer will continue and it will resume after you have missed like 10 seconds of your show. this happens about ever 2 minutes making the show pretty much unwatchable. since the only medium I watch crunchy on is my apple tv this makes my premium membership useless so I let it expire when the problem is fixed I will renew my membership!

The error is because of the server issues. The freezing has nothing to do with the server error.

Was there an error, or just freezing? If you got an error and the website is working, then it is not a server issue most likely and the problem may be with your connection. If it was freezing, it is a different issue. The website works during the freezing because it is not an issue with the servers in the same way that the error is.

Posting to clarify:

The error where the show will not stream at all, or closes out of the app, or says that it cannot connect is most likely an issue with the servers not connecting. This is probably a result of the DDoS attack that happened and they are working on it. The website will not work during this time, if that is the case. This error has NOTHING to do with the freezing of the video and audio and then skipping ahead. If you have the error and the website works, check a different thread for possible solutions because it is most likely your own device/network that is the cause. If the website doesn't work, just be patient. The staff is working diligently to get the issues fixed from the attack. There have been very few solutions to the freezing problem, which is why we are posting here. It is a separate issue and not connected with the error in any way.

I am reporting that I am having the same issue as described in multiple posts on this thread. The "freezing" on the AppleTV where the video/audio freezes but the play timer keeps moving forward, skipping several seconds of show. This freezing is only occurring on the AppleTV; playing video on the website works without issue during the same timeframe.

I as well have been experiencing the freezing while the timer keeps forwarding issue. Trying to watch crunchy roll on Apple TV at this point is futile. And even the iPhone app is buffering but none of my other services are affected i.e. Netflix, HBO go, etc.

Yeah, I can report this issue happening to me as well. Just recently got Apple TV and Crunchyroll, figured I'd use them both hand in hand. However whenever I load an anime, Bleach Ep. 1 for example, it goes great up until the point where Ichigo confronts the thugs, and then it'll freeze. I'll then hear the audio of Ichigo with his Dad, which doesn't happen until a minute or so later.

ds4294: That's what I thought. I was just clarifying that the freezing is not related to the website. It is an iOS issue only.

I hope someone figures this out soon because I am almost off break and I don't have much time for binge watching anime after break is over.

Yet another report of the AppleTV freezing/skipping ahead issue. I have been running CR for almost a year with my AppleTV being my exclusive streaming source and this is fairly recent (within the past month, maybe only the past couple of weeks). It had been an occasional problem before, but now it is freezing upwards of twenty separate times an episode. This really needs a fix as it makes shows unwatchable.

FYI - there is another thread where users (including myself) are reporting issues with the Roku app, which is displaying similar behavior.

On the Roku, the audio keeps playing, but the video signal gets lost and an error message is displayed:

"Couldn't play video. Please check your connection/account and try again."

It is possible that there is an underlying problem on the server side that is affecting both the AppleTV app as well as the Roku app.

I'm dealing with the same thing as you guys but on different anime so I'm pretty sure it's a server thing. At this point, I'd just like CrunchyRoll to let us know they're on it so we don't feel like we're waiting on a fix that isn't even being prepared...

Same problem on iOS with frequent freeze-skips. Makes shows unwatchable, will be canceling my subscription if it's not fixed in a week.
