I am having the same video freeze while counter goes ahead problem. Missing chunks of episodes. This is happening for me on both an iPad air and an iPhone 6 plus. All ofher streaming apps work fine ( funimation, Netflix, YouTube, etc. ). If I restart video it just freezes / skips at the exact same spot. Reinstalled app but did not help.

This is a recent issue that has been noticeable since the update to the iOS app in late December. It happens every episode of anything I watch now. It's getting worse. Just before posting I only was able to get to 19 seconds of the first trailer for rwby before I had a freeze skip.

I'm dealing with the same thing as you guys but on different anime so I'm pretty sure it's a server thing. At this point, I'd just like CrunchyRoll to let us know they're on it so we don't feel like we're waiting on a fix that isn't even being prepared...

I would like CR to say something about this as well. Obviously it's a widespread issue and I would like to know they have acknowledged this and are/will be looking into fixing it.

I emailed CR support a link to the thread to inquire about the issue. I'm guessing I'll hear back in three days with the same scripted response I always get but who knows. Maybe this time they'll forgo copy+paste.

EDIT:
Soooo,

SAO II episode 6:
0:00 - 0:20
3:40 - 3:50
7:08 - 7:16

And then I gave up. X_x

Hey apple tv users I was wondering is this still happening? I want to re up my membership if they have got it fixed since crunchy isn't posting updates on this issue I thought I would ask the community?

It's still happening. I was just getting back to some SAO II and I noticed it on my Apple TV. Logged in to see if anyone else was experiencing it and I found this thread.

Sure would be nice if someone, anyone, at CR would acknowledge this issue.

We did have a staff member talking to us breifly but he hasn't posted in a while. I am rather disappointed with customer service available here. I understand that they are working on fixing things from the DoS attack still, but some acknowledgment would be nice. Just a "we are working on it" or a "we will get to it eventually" would be great.

I do recall someone from CR among all these threads say the former, but I would hate to have to do the work of trying to find that one comment again.

CR staff are rather thin on weekends, especially when most of the normal customer-facing people are at a convention.

I expect the technical staff are having to put in some overtime, however.

There was someone who posted twice, shinryou, but his second post was in response to someone who was not having the same issue we are having. Shinryou asked about an error message being displayed to someone each time they opened the app. The main issue in this thread does not display an error message. We just aren't sure from the way the posts left off if the actual issue at hand is being addressed.

I'm on my iphone4s and I'm experience this weird issue today! ; o ;
I only had success of one episode not doing it at all. (until the credits, but thats better than it happening during the episode xD)

Today is the first day I've had it happen. (but I've been having different glitch issues xD)

In one episode the way I was able semi-combat it was to watch a few minutes ahead and then go back to the part the skip glitch happen, and it would play the part I couldn't see before, but with how often it happens in each episodes doing that's not very convenient. xD

And on the current episode I'm watching the video froze (without counting the time.) so I had to restart my episode (mine doesn't save the progress of the episode so it starts it at the beginning) I moved it close enough to where I recall being at and now the current episode is running smoothly, so weird man. xD

I'm having the same problem with my apple tv and other devices.

I've tested the following:

Apple TV - Freeze/Skips
IPad 2 - Freeze/Skips and also Freeze/Buffers then continues without skip.
Xbox One - Freeze/Buffers then continues (frequently!)
MacBook Pro using Chrome - Perfect playback, no problems.

I believe different servers serve different devices, If other people could test their media devices against a PC or Mac system to confirm the difference in playback quality it might help troubleshoot or identify the problem.

Driving me insane. Had it happen around 9 times in one episode. And I'm paying for premium! What gives? I guess we should all email support to get them to acknowledge it..

Flash streams are served by Akamai's content delivery network, device streams by Limelight Networks (unless that has changed in the past year or so).

Having the same issue on AppleTv, Chromecast streams; been trying to get through a rewatch of Toradora Sub and it's affecting a number of episode numbers in the teens.

Also can't get anything new to load properly, like Cross Ange. Can't even get it to load on ipad ios app now.

For me it started with freezing for 30 sec or so. Since yesterday I can't play any video anymore on my Apple TV or iPad app. The load icon appears, but video will not load... I am now connecting my iMac to the Apple TV via Airplay copying the screen. Not the best solution, but that is the only way for me. Very weird. The site works fine, but the apps...

.... I don't know what to say.

CR offered instructions on how to deactivate and reactivate a Roku box in response to my help ticket. That is customer service deserving of gold stars. :p

Anyway, I think the take away message is that you could try deactivating your iOS devices and then reactivating them. I haven't tried it yet since I'm at work so I don't know the outcome. Instructions on how to this for a Roku are as follows:

•Go to the devices page : http://www.crunchyroll.com/acct/?action=devices
•Click 'Deactivate' next to Roku
•On your Roku box:◦Go to the Crunchyroll Channel
◦Select the "Link Your Account" button
◦Write down the code that appears on the page

•On your computer or smart phone:◦Go to the Device Activation page.
◦Type in the code that you wrote down
◦Click the "Link Device" button

I would assume it's the same basic concept for iOS.
