Have you ever broken up with someone? If so, how did you handle it?

Handle, as in post-breakup or how we managed to break up? I just told her I've got some bad news, and that I want to break up with her. Took awhile to gain the courage to bring it up though. I just couldn't be bothered calling her every night after I realized I wasn't that interested in her. (To be honest, everything I did felt like an act, and it was stressing me out.) After offering a moment of silence in respect for her, I gave myself a pat on the back and proceeded to read some manga.

It doesn't matter.

It's no big deal.
If you want to break up then it should be easy,
If the other party wants to break up then the relationship was doomed anyway.

this song describes it perfectly...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2U0Ivkn2Ds

"and i am feeling so small
and i will stumble and fall
anywhere i would have followed you"

"you're the one that i love, and i'm saying goodbye"

those are the phrases that really hit home with me. </3

I handled it pretty well.

It was pretty akward. He just stared at me and asked if i was feeling well. After I told him, that I couldn't deal with a relationship anymore. He walked out of the room without saying anything. Idk what happened, but that was the end of that. Never talked to him again. Tho, my friend tells me he still stalks me on facebook.

They go differently depending on the person. In some cases we both kinda knew it wasn't working anymore we got bored of each other and so on it just took somebody to have the guts to say it first. In another case i've broke up with a girlfriend and had to sit awkwardly while she cries and shouts for an hour before leaving.

The most messy thing i ever broke up was a marriage it's a whole load of legal crap and arguing over who has the rights to what. It makes people very petty and stupid where a DVD collection starts to mean a whole lot more than it should. Me and my ex wife pretty much hate each other now.

The best thing you can do is handle it with maturity and just be honest. In the end it's better to tell people how you feel even if it hurts them because telling a lie and stringing them along is a much worse thing to do.

Its the pits. I have to have time to heal first before even starting to think about it.

I knew she was cheating on me, but I wanted her to come out and admit it. We broke up right when she admitted it, I looked at her and said we're done and walked away. For years she kept calling me asking how I am, telling me i'm the best BF shes ever had. In the end I had to change my number cause she asked me something really weird.

They're pretty shit when you care about the other person. If not, they're still not easy but also not exactly hard. It's never fun though, either way. I always thought it'd be cool if humans mated for life.

It hurts my heart it does.

But I eventually get over it. The key is to keep yourself occupied and positive.
