Stereotypes, in a word. It's easier to just make a bunch of assumptions about a person than it is to get to know them. I have more than a few friends who were surprised to find out that I watched anime or played card games. I don't fit that "image" as it were, and neither do countless other fans of these hobbies.

Whay.

But Anohana, Angel Beats, Code Geass, Clannad and Sakurasou are probably what you are looking for.
Recommend 'em all!

Sometimes anime can be pretty perverted or biased I guess whenever they involve racial traits. Like when Dragon Ball Z made all their black people with non-spiky hair and big pink lips lololololol

I guess mainly due to a lot of stereotypes both anime and the fans have. Be it from lolicon and ecchi stuff, to Pokemon, to weeaboos, they're a few things that will come to the mind of people who don't watch anime. Anime has a lot of negativity surrounding it, hence why it's still a niche medium to get involved in, and since it's niche there are plenty of people who DON'T watch it to believe these stereotypes apply to all fans of said medium.

Weeaboos and hentai ruin everybody's perception. Now, I like hentai but it seems to be the only thing that people think of when they think of anime - right to the point where only 2 or 3 people in my high school actually knew what anime was. Weeaboos are a bad stereotype and drive the gamers and geeks away from the hobby. They are annoying and have bias for no good reason which doesn't make them good representations of the hobby. Plus, although it isn't really, our obsessed look way more obsessed than western type hobbies which itself drives people away.

Because they have bad taste. - Pretty much what I think of them and most likely what they think of me.
Everyone has opinions and they will stick to their opinions.

Comic Books with Superheroes vs Manga Novels with Anime Characters.
As a hybrid asian I grew up with Naruto in Cartoon Network, I recently checkout out comic books last year but I was not interested in them.
I am pretty sure if someone else had it the other way around, they would prefer super heroes

The manga style is looked down upon because many people believe that all manga character designs use the same template (that makes them uncreative and unoriginal).

T-o that’s usually the response I get.

You have to do your own research in order to prove them wrong.
XD My contextual studies teacher was blown away with how much history and general information I knew about manga art.
