On the Manga section on Crunchyroll, if you scroll down all the way you find a list of manga books and say if there is a digital copy available etc... If I buy that, am I buying it in Crunchyroll, do I keep it on the website forever and can read without a membership? Or is it just a 3rd party product.. and to view it I'd need to visit a different website?

I haven't bought any of the manga, but it looks like you can buy a physical copy through CR or a kindle version through amazon. You can keep both of these forever, since you don't access them through some service or website.

The former, definitely true... but it's wise to be aware that the latter can be taken away. These days companies can (though fortunately most don't) do almost anything they want, as long as they bury it somewhere in the TOS.
