I was already a goth when emo became popular so, of course, I didn't take them seriously . It's basically just a cheap version of goth (being a goth is expensive ) for people who love to whine.
Emo isn't really a thing anymore anyways. Now we have hipster goths, pastel goths and metalcore kids.

pretty interesting genre to look at when you see it's existed since during the 80's hardcore scene and gone through numerous evolutions (or devolutions) through the years. I went through the phase in the early 2000's myself. I remember rocking weird shit like purple velvet dress jackets, putting blush over my eyes, the copious amount of scarf wearing, rocking fucking girl jeans, etc during that phase. Just typical weird teenage shit.

Probably gonna revisit some Mineral or Cursive now. Maybe even some Rite Of Spring.

When I was the right age to be Emo (that would have been the early 1980's) it hadn't been invented but I really wanted straight black hair forward combed (I have very curly hair so that was a non-starter), I had an Emo mind-set and listened to angsty rock bands so I'm pretty sure I would have been Emo. Goths were around but I just didn't identify with them.

Inside I'm still Emo but I'm way too old to live the lifestyle. I do secretly wear black and purple though...

I was 'emo' When I was younger but I guess I never went all the way, I had the Bieber cut before Bieber was a thing so not very emo but I guess I sort of was? I did hang out with a guy called "Steve-o the Emo", I still do but now I call him Steve.

I shared an iPod with one I rode the bus with. We we're good friends during elementary, intermediate, and middle school. I still remember listening to 3Oh3, Fallout Boy, Blood on the Dance Floor, and - of course - Hollywood Undead.
