Ignorant hate is not truly hate, it's just idiocy manifesting itself.

Not true.

Broadly defined, hate is a rejection of a perceived or believed evil or injustice. What one perceives or believes to be evil or unjust is what causes hate even if those perceptions are true or not.

That just supports the statement even more. Hating something you know nothing about just shows ignorance. Take, for example, someone who hates another religion. Would it not be foolish to go into why they hate the religion if they knew nothing about it?

I find it galling that this thread exists, considering the supposed cease-fire that was announced in the Why do people hate on Sword Art Online? thread. That said, I find this quote to be incorrect. My view is similar to that of Holofernes.

This has nothing to do with that thread, other than the fact that it's the more polished version of a statement I made in it. I don't mean to continue that argument in any way.

If I hate myself and don't understand myself does that make me an idiot?

Well, I like to think there's a difference between racism and my intense hatred of certain people.

After all, if there are different types of love, there must surely be different types of hate.

i call bs, i think hate is hate

when someone lacks compassion and the desire to find the good in others they are broken already, weather they choose to fear the unknown or hate it,

i don't care how ignorant you are or how you were raised anyone with an iq above 80 should be able to make their own judgments and have the reasoning skills to find the truth.

It would depend who says it and what tone of voice they say it in if it's done in public I think.

What was your understanding of this thread? I mean, it's hard to misunderstand, the quote is open to personal interpretation.

Hating ignorant people is still ignorant. That is how I am looking at it which could be wrong.

No, I mean hating something you are uninformed and ignorant about, not actual ignorant people being hated.

Well this thread is kinda silly. However I like silly things. So in that spirit, I think the quote is bullshit. Hatred is hatred no matter whether is it blind or justified. That said I don't think hatred isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's simply an emotion. Nothing more or less.
