Do you think viz media will ever change theirs subscription service ?

I got the subscription with them and I regret it, getting the subscription all ready. I could have use that money to get all of Nisekoi volumes, throughout 1 to 9. My only problem with the service is that I can not read a series from the beginning. Basically is telling me to buy the first volume if I want to know the beginning. Example I want to read one man punch but with subscription I can only read the latest chapters not the beginning. You see my problem. In any case I want to know how others feel about the service of Viz media manga subscription.

I dont use VIZ. But.. i can tell you.. withholding the first volume of a manga, is a pretty petty and douchy marketing tactic that forces people to spend more money with them.

Thats like crunchyroll one day up and saying. "You can watch anime, but not the first 5 minutes of each episode unless you spend 3 dollars to unlock the first 5 minutes"

As far as I'm concerned I only gonna buy volumes from them. The subscription in the other hand is dead to me.

Is not that what they are offering is bad, is that is incredible limited is unreal. You can see the greed from mile away. like AzazelOfNexium says is pretty petty if you ask me to the point is just sad. I just hope one day they change that model for something better.

Because it's a magazine. Say you went and subscribed to Sports Illustrated, do they give you all of the previous issues? No. That's how magazines work.

It will stay like this just like WSJ and other manga magazines in Japan are. When you subscribe, you won't get back issues. If you want to read a series from the start, you buy the volumes because the volumes are the final version, not the magazine itself.

It's also the same on CR. They remove the chapters when the volumes are released.

No is not. I'm a full paying member and I can read any volume or individual chapter I want here. Right now I'm reading Silver Nina and The Seven Deadly Sins. And I can read any chapter or volume I want from it, I know this because I am using it right now. You are right about the other things. Also viz media did't specific what subscription was about other than they give you the latest chapters. And yes I expected them to give full access to the rest of the series that they are simulcasting from japan. I pay to read the full manga not to read part of the story and be force to buy the rest like it is some kind of DLC.

Again, it's a magazine. It always was. This is the headline when you go to subscribe:

"The Digital Magazine of the World's Most Popular Manga! New chapters every week! Simultaneous with Japanese publication!
Become a Weekly Shonen Jump member now! Purchase a 12-Month Membership and receive a new issue every week! "

They never stated "You can read every series from the start." You have a certain amount of back issues which I think it's around 3 months, but that's it. People go into it expecting the same thing they'd expect from a magazine subscription. If you misunderstood, well that's not their fault.

Also, check Fairy Tail and Attack on Titan to see that CR removes chapters. They also link you to either the CR store or Amazon Kindle store for people to go and buy the volumes. Just like what VIZ is doing.

Seven Deadly Sins English volumes are relatively recent. They will remove the chapters sooner or later. Silver Nina is not even licensed for English volume releases, so I don't know why you mentioned it.

First they should make it clear is only the current ones. 2 here the link to Silver Nina in English. What are you blind? http://www.crunchyroll.com/comics_read/manga?volume_id=607&chapter_num=27.00 Two Fairy tail does not represent all CR manga collection. 3 I have read a lot of the manga here and I have not encounter any of that bullshit you say other than fairy tail or Attack on titan. They will not remove Seven Deadly Sins volumes and if you disagree contact CR and ask them then. CR manga section is all can you eat, Also go and check every manga here and you will see those are the only ones who have that BS in place. The rest you can read from the beginning as far as I know. Now go bother somebody else unless you have proof .

Sorry about this but it must be point out. Most of the series here are being translated in English for the first time by CR. That mean the model of buying does not work here because of that. Because most of them are only available digitally only. And most people want to try before buying . Nobody is going to buy a manga without reading first unless they want to take a risk and wasted money on it.
