I don't really mind some friendly touching if I know them even a little bit. From a complete stranger it would be weird. I guess I'm little touchy person myself.

It depends on what you mean. Do I want people I have known a short time giving me a hug? Generally not, but there are exceptions depending on how well I feel I had gotten to know them in that short time. Do I want them to rub my leg and see how far they can move their hand up? Absolutely not. My leg & all that is for my Mrs, not some rando.

I'm another who doesn't like to be touched, I also don't like people to stand too close to me. When I am in a crowded room I like to keep my back to a wall and stay in a position that would allow me to escape if everyone suddenly turned against me. Why am I like this? I do not know.

One of my earliest memories is the skin-crawling feeling I would get when other kids would whisper in my ear. I hated that. Why do small children like to get their mouths so close to other people's ears?

For me, it depends on the current situation, and who it is. If it's someone I hardly know, but they need a hug to help them feel better, by all means, I will, though even if it's one of my best friends, random touching or hugging will end badly for them.

I prefer people to generally keep their hands to themselves and leave me my personal space. There is the odd exception but that's because I've known them for a while so there's affection there. I grew up very conservative when it comes to displays of affection. By the time I was school aged a hug was a once or twice a year thing from family. People generally greeted each other by saying hello and even giving small waves when everyone was standing within an arm's length from each other. Many people I know in the Caribbean greet like that.

Then I get back to the UK and meet all those Europeans and those who lived on the continent. The Italians are giving hugs and 4 kisses every time we meet and bid farewell . For that sort of hug to have happened in family there'd have to be a family reunion with those who haven't meet up in over a decade but this sort of drama happens every day sometimes more than once in a day with the Italians. The French ones give 2 kisses with hugs. The Dutch for some reason give 3 kisses with hugs. The Africans seem to have beat them all with the Somalians grabbing you for hugs and bestowing a total of 6 kisses on you! All of this is from strangers to family. They are dragging me to their side kicking and screaming. I've even been to a party full of French people, African French and Caribbean French. When it was time to leave they all lined up and proceeded to hug and kiss the living daylights out of me. My friend observed that it was all the guys doing it and she complained that I got more kisses than her . I no longer try to step back to avoid the lot

Yes I do mind. I do not like being touched by anyone I cringe, except for one person that I allow he is an exception.

I find it funny how some of the people hate it when their own family and/or friends touch them.
