I think the minimum wage should be $25.00 per hr.

If you're an American you may think this is a bit high, but think about. Go gather all your utility bills, your rent of mortgage bill, budget the amount of money you'll need to send on whole some nutritious food each month with out having to use food stamps and getting food from food banks, budget the money you'll need for transportation which include public transportation or cost of having a car, budget money for clothes, budget money to save, budget money for health care.

these are common expenses that people have in common and can't be without.

add them all up for the month

next determine your pay at $25.00 per hr

next determine your pay at $15.00 per hr , $11.00 per hr, $10.00 per hr, $9.00 per hr, $8.00 per hr, $7.00 per hr, $6.00 per hr, and $5.00 per hr

next compare your total monthly expenses to the total monthly pay at $25.00 per hr.

next compare your total monthly expenses to the total monthly pay at $15.00 per hr , $11.00 per hr, $10.00 per hr, $9.00 per hr, $8.00 per hr, $7.00 per hr, $6.00 per hr, and $5.00 per hr.

Tell me which minimum wage will keep you off food stamps and welfare and keep you from being homeless.

I don't live in the US so I just have to ask. What is the minimum pay in US?
You obviously want it to be higher, but I need to know what the minimum is at now.

Trick question, there should be no minimum wage as it destroys the value of the dollar.

Changing minimum wage won't actually fix anything. Corporations don't tolerate losses, whatever the reason.

If you made 25.00$ an hour, why wouldn't they charge 10.50$ for a slice of pizza? Why wouldn't they start charging 18.00$ a gallon for gas?

Apple isn't going to say. "Well darn, there goes our higher paying market."

They're simply going to charge 6,000$ for an iPhone and 11,000$ for an iMac.

7.25 USD is the Federally set level.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimum_wage_in_the_United_States

As of July 2009, the federal government mandates a nationwide minimum wage level of $7.25 per hour, while some states and municipalities have set minimum wage levels higher than the federal level, with the highest state minimum wage being $9.32 per hour in Washington as of January 1, 2014.

On March 26, 2014, Connecticut passed legislation to raise the minimum wage from $8.70 to $10.10 by 2017, the first state to address President Obama's call for an increase on minimum wage.

On June 2, 2014, the City Council of Seattle, Washington passed a local ordinance to increase the minimum wage of the city to $15 an hour, giving the city the highest minimum wage in the United States, which will be phased in over seven years, to be fully implemented by 2021.

Here's a good break down as well

Minimum wage in the US is 7.25 USD/hr or 49.70 NOK/hr

Minimum wage at 25 USD/hour would be 48,000 USD/year or about 329,000.76 NOK/year The OP is dreaming.

Honestly, I personally don't think that increasing the minimum wage to $25 or anything higher from $9 is going to change that fact that a lot of people relay on food stamps/ government aid to survive. There are people that just refuse to work but have money due to the fact that they relay heavily on food stamps and so on. It would probably help some of us that actually have it rough or are having great difficulty paying their monthly bills. But as long as the feds are willing to give aid to their citizens that are in need, there will always be people that are just simply lazy and prefer to stay at home or on the streets drinking alcohol, etc while they receive support from food stamps. IMO

It's 9 dollars and hour in the US. Should our wages get higher, every other stock would as well.

While I would love to make more money than I currently do, though I don't get paid by the hour, increasing minimum wage that high would not help anything. As stated in a previous post it would only increase the cost of everything else. What really needs to happen is switching up the way tax breaks are for companies in order to encourage them to bring factories and jobs back to America. The more jobs we have the more people will be able to find work suitable for their needs. McDonald's drive-thru is not meant to be a permanent lifelong career. It is unrealistic to expect to work there and be able to completely sustain yourself on that income. They are meant more as starter or supplemental jobs. Those who need higher income would then be able to go on to factory work (this is assuming that those who work fast food for so long do so because of a lack of skills necessary for other jobs) and make enough to live on. Continuing with school to get bigger and better jobs is not always a good fit for everyone which is why I am avoiding that part of it. Those people don't have to worry about minimum wage anyway.

$7.25 federally with each state having its own minimum wage. Like here in Ohio it is currently $7.95 and set to go up to $8.10 on January 1st.

I personally believe the minimum wage should be a living wage, so that would largely depend on where you live. Here in New Orleans that would be a little over $10.50 an hour for a single adult according to MIT.

I think it would just be too high everything would go up ! However if somebody make $10.00 a hour you would get by barely ! I make a little more but havent had a raise in 5/ 86 years easily . And then my hours are down too! Lets face it without factories here the wages are stagnant! And more bad new even jobs that are here are being replaced by automaion!

Whether you are a worker or a corporation how do you make growth with these conditions. Something has to give!

yeah I can't see my wage increase to $25 any time soon, while that would be nice its just not going to happen. I can probably see happen maybe in the next 100 years or so. anyways to increase minimum wage to $25 just seems like it'll decrease the value of the dollar making the cost of random things increase to compensate for said increase of wage. if your happy making $25 an hour flipping burgers then where's the motivation to better yourself to get a better paying job or to do something more?

$25/ hr? That's too much. I wonder what would the price of 1 gal of milk if that minimum wage was implemented. That's not simple.
