Most of it came across as propaganda to me. See how it uses buzzphrases like "the mentally strong" and tries to work in rhetoric such as the bit about someone's "chain" being "too short to go for the ride"? That's the kind of pointed embellishment one tends to see in an article with a agenda. It's there to give readers something to latch on to so that the impressions of the article stick with them and they can be influenced more by its content.

While I do agree that some of these types of people can be mentally exhausting to be around, the condescension in this article's message sabotages any respectability it might have been aiming for. It's one thing to point out a person's flaws in the hopes of encouraging them to overcome them; it's quite another to point them out in order to convince people that that person doesn't deserve to be a part of their life. I'm far - far - from an elitist myself, but I've taken to understand that a success-oriented mindset is typically based on one's own self-worth, confidence, and drive. This article, in a total departure from that, suggests that merely being around "toxic" people is enough to derail one's own productivity: it pins the blame for one's own "failings" on others, and worse, by suggesting that success is influenced by them moreso than by oneself, it paints them as worthless and attempts to scare readers into shunning them.

This is the sort of thing that gives goal-driven people a bad name. Someone who finds success through their own power, who single-mindedly puts in the work until they achieve what they want, is admirable. Someone who simply "wears" those qualities in order to look down on others, however, is not. It's that sort of pointless self-aggrandizement that undermines the good that can come of an ambitious lifestyle. This article's fatal flaw is that it includes categories 1 and 6, despite its very premise coming from the same mental space. There's nothing productive about this list. It paints certain traits as "worthless" in order to provide an ego boost to those who don't exhibit them, and to disparage those who do, and provides nothing in the way of constructive advice, whether it be to amend "toxic" behaviour or to increase the productivity and drive it so desperately pretends to encourage in order to justify its general meanness. In the end, the only thing that this article means to accomplish is baseless stratificaton, and the worst thing you can do with it is to buy into it. Your own judgement is and always will be better than what someone else tells you.

Manipulate, control, turn everything back on you, and do it whilst you are in a vulnerable state and susceptible, and then doubt yourself. I know what you are getting at, as far as how someone can do that, but believe me there are some that can prey on the vulnerable and they know when to strike at that moment.

I don't think these type of people are toxic, they're just annoying. I'm lazy as fuck, but hey, I'm not that bad.

I think I'm better off being wary of people who tell me what kind of people I should or shouldn't associate myself with.

I know someone that goes out of their way to make me look bad in front of other people.
They're not even subtle about it, either.

Leeches.. Ugh.. I hate when people offer me stuff, even if I know I need it I feel extremely bad and live with the "debt" of whatever they did for me.

The depressed. I agree completely, shut the fuck up and live. That is all.

Yolo... Lol

I confess it. I'm lazy. Everyone should avoid me cause you might catch the lazy bug, eventually the whole world will just sit around all day and just.. "Meh"

I agree with everything else but don't have any witty comments on them.
