Thank you for your response on my forum topic on raising minimum wage to $25.00 per hr. I enjoyed reading your opinions.

I have another topic that I'd like to have your opinion on.

There are many pro life people who want laws declaring an unborn human fetus a person. As a person the fetus will get all the rights and protection as a walking talking breathing person.

There are people who are against this. I for one don't see anything wrong with this. A fetus in a woman is a person. only it is not fully developed. Well, children and teens aren't fully developed humans. they aren't fully developed until they become adults. Still they have full human rights under the law.

So why can't unborn human fetuses have complete rights as a person?

Tell me what you think.

It's not as though they're more conscious than a robot until they're a certain age.

let's talk about something that's kinda obviously wrong-

Late term abortions

I mean, if someone doesn't want the baby then it should've been done a LONG while back. Waiting until the baby's practically ready to be born is just wrong

No... Just no

I strongly believe are people. I think the idea that the definition of personhood hinges on whether one is inside or outside of a uterus is absurd.

I don't like the personhood idea where a fetus is considered a person upon conception. Not only is it a horrible policy for those women, who, for whatever reason, decide to have an abortion, but for those women who have had natural miscarriages.

The latter is such a hard thing to deal with, and something I would not personally wish on anyone. Most do not understand until they experience it. But now, combined with the sadness, the guilt that comes along with wondering if it could have been prevented and the physical pain, you're going to add to that burden the notion that a woman is now a murderer?! That's absolutely sick. And before you say "miscarriages are rare", let me inform you that 50% of all pregnancies in the US end in miscarriage.

this is an interesting question

i heard on the radio the other day (I live in australia, so i'm talking about australian laws), this guy drove into a pregnant woman's car and killed her unborn baby, but he only got charged with "greivous bodily harm" instead of "murder", so he only got jailed for 5 years instead of more.

You would think that it was kind of murder since the baby was like just few days shy of being born but it's not since it's technically not a "person".

_____

My opinion is that people should get charged for murder if the woman wasn't the one who decided to terminate it.

But i'm pretty sure if they made the law that an embryo or a faetus is a baby, the pro-life people will have a field day... and use the loophole in this law to ban abortion. :/ So it's like a win-lose situation for a pregnant woman.

this is what i don't like about nazi pro-lifers, they're not flexible with their thinking.

Akage-chan, you're right about the number of miscarriages in the US. I read that they occur mostly in poor areas where woman don't have proper health care and are under a lot of stress.

A woman should not be punished for a miscarriage. that's like an accidental death or a person dying of a stroke or heart attack.

ooooooooo touchy subject for some o_o

Well i feel like even if it's a child of rape and you don't want it you should still love it as your own. Humans have it easy compared to other species.

No. Asinine religious concepts of the soul have held back so much useful stem cell research that it's almost maddening. I mean we could be well on our way to learning how to regenerate entire missing arms and legs, but instead we're too busy treating brainless piles of cells like they're humans and hating on gay people because the magic sky god in a 2,000 year old book says so...

I think so. That way a third party is responsible for a death that could have been avoided.
I also think the parents should be allowed to kill their children.
