Well, as someone who played the games, I'm looking forward to this more than what I was. Here's hoping it won't be a horrible train wreck. Then maybe they'll animate Dynasty Warriors as well (though preferably with a better budget )

Well, if it's get you to check it out, I'm not going to complain. Though I think they look much better in Samurai Warriors 4 than in the anime.

Episode 1

That was awesome, from start to finish. Yukimura's the type of guy who takes risks and he has the skills to do it. Action on most parts was solid and I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed the OST from the show already.

Not sure how I feel about guns used though but overall was good episode.

Speaking as a fan of the games (since SW1 in '04), they did a fantastic job (IMO) showing off the characters, having there be over-the-top fights (though not to the same silly degree as Sengoku Basara), starting the plot at a good point in the history, etc. I like that they picked the Siege of Odawara to get things going, since it shows how everybody works together under Hideyoshi ... before

You need a guy like Yukimura Sanada when your enemy is Joseph Joestar – no, really, he and Ujiyasu Hojo have the same VA.

Also: Do not forget to check out the OAV that has been posted in addition to Episode 1 of the show itself.

OVA + Ep 1

I think I would've preferred the high school setting...

is this a sausage fest? if so i'm not in. got to have some hetero romance to interest me. sry but i am not a fan of watching a bunch of boys hose the screen with testosterone.
i am by no means knocking those of you who enjoy boys hosing the screen with testosterone. it's simply not my cup of tea.

If you're asking if there are females in the show, then yes. Tecmo Koei often gives the females more importance than their historical counterparts. Hence, they have a larger female roster than other similar games like Sengoku Basara. Samurai Warriors 4 has 10 females in its roster, though I don't know how many will actually make an appearance.

This episode alone had five:

Unfortunately, several of the others will most likely not be appearing due to the restrictions of the period they chose for the anime (i.e. anybody from the Kenshi-Shingen-Nobunaga period is out). This list includes:

Never rule out flashbacks, however.

The third one in that spoiler list is still alive and kicking in this time period; she is right up until near the end.

Samurai Warriors is based on actual history. Under the events of The Warring States era. It took place when gunpowder was first invented and war was being reshaped.

Sekgoku Basara is based off the historical events that occured during The Warring States era. Unless the anime has an original what if scenario ending:

I like historical and military fiction, with and without 'magic', but that was just boring. Maybe because they replaced actual strategy with just running in Leeroy Jenkins style.
