Khaltazar TLDR: 15$ would ruin the economy BS (SpiritWolf15's edit of my post.)

No... No it wouldn't. Stop listening to CNN and FauxNews.

Come on don't edit my post in a quote, it is bad taste.
Are you meaning to refute my entire (actual) post or do you have a specific counter point you want to make?
I would very much like to discuss why you think my cons list is wrong in your opinion.
Outright denying my entire post with "No it wouldn't." doesn't provide much room to see where you are coming from.
I don't use CNN nor Fox News as a news source, my cons list is based on logic.

If a business pays their 100 employees $7.25 an hour to work 40 hours a week that is $29,000.00 per week ignoring taxes and benefits. If they were to be forced to give all 100 employees $15.00 an hour for the same amount of hours per week that would be $60,000.00 per week. That business is losing $31,000.00 per week that they will work out in their best interest to reduce the financial burden that has been placed upon them. Now, they can cut 50 employees and that will free up $30,000.00 per week, but they will most likely feel that in the pocket a lot more. So, what they will do is cut everyone's hours to say 30 hours a week which would be $45,000.00 per week (they still have a $16,000.00 gap to make up for.) The company will expect the employees to work harder to earn their $15.00 an hour. Now, the company has to make the tough decision to let a couple people go. Perhaps 20 employees. They are at $36,000.00 per week now. They will require employees to work harder and work with less people per shift. The final portion is directed to the customer. Now they need to make up $7,000.00 per week some how and will do this by increasing their prices on some if not all items.

After reading this, please tell me what logical business would take the $31,000.00 per week hit because the government said so? I know I wouldn't. I would do exactly as I laid it out in the above paragraph. This will cause my employees to dislike me and cause a disruption among the employees. Hey, they are making $15.00 an hour though. We forgot those 20 employees that I had to let go. It's why businesses pay for unemployment insurance.

I'm not saying this is moral or the "right" choice to make. I would love for everyone to make enough to live on comfortably, but the world doesn't work that way. Businesses only care about their profit, if some new regulation harms their profit they will do anything they have to in order to reduce their expenses.

Holy crap guys, I work at McDonalds and I think the minimum should be at least $10.00. I don't know where you guys work, but if you haven't done a 11am-1:30am shift at McDonalds, then you have no idea what its really like...

I worked fast food.... it's not that hard. So no... they should not get $15.00 an hour. I probably work harder and have more responsibility at my job where I am required to do a lot of manual labor than those who work at McD and actually do get paid less than they do because of my location. (I live on a border line of states so one states minimum wage is higher... a lot higher than the other) Though I won't quite my job because it will be better for me in the long run.

Wait, maybe I'm not understanding. I'm under the impression that after 8pm, everyone goes home except for three crew and a manager. That leaves you with one person taking cash and orders for back booth (drive through) and dishes, one person doing all the cooking and sandwich making (besides fries), with the last person and the manager up front putting the orders together. These 4 people work their *** off all night so you can have your cheeseburger at 11:45pm or whenever.

These are the people who deserve a raise. Not $15.00 but at the very least $10.00 or $12.00 .

Costco pays their employees around 15$ to start with it going up as you stay with them, they also offer benefits and medical and they still turn a profit.

But yeah, $15/hour will ruin the economy.

FauxNews/CNN/Republicans would love to have you believe that people actually being able to afford to live while working will ruin the economy. Then again they all are devote trickle down economists.

Minimum wage should be a LIVING wage, McDicks can afford to pay their employees 15$ and hour.

Congratulations you're the number one butt hurt comment I have seen in a while on CR!
You obviously don't know how much ONE kid costs this day and age sweetie. McDonalds is a starting off job for younger workers. If you take starting off jobs away no one would be able to start off at one of those jobs anymore therefore kids wouldn't be able to pay for their college because they wouldn't be able to find a job!
Also why would you want to work there and have your kid embarrassed when they have to talk about what their parent does at work?
"My Daddy works at McDonalds and he's over 25 years old..." Yikes! If it were that easy no one would go to college anymore. So school wouldn't even matter to kids anymore. Use common sense before you defend something that won't ever happen.
We need some intelligent people on this Earth and sweetie you just need to understand that. =)

One more thing, I also never watch the news, I get my weather from my cell phone.
Sorry to break it to you but I bet you're the one watching all those sad people complain that they don't make enough.
Tough, go get a better job. It's life and it's not meant to be easy.

Please refer to my last post about how Costco pays their employees around 15$ per to start with it going up from there with benefits and medical and still turns a profit.

McDicks can afford to pay their employees better, they make more money per quarter than some countries do in a year.

You still obviously don't know what you're talking about. Re-read what I have to say sweetie.
Use your brain and realize you are taking student jobs away when you want $15.00 + an hour.
You want that? So all the other good paying jobs go away? You want that so no one can go to college because they can't find a job?
You want lazy pieces of trash to ruin jobs?
Please use your brain for once. Lol =)

You have to work to earn that paycheck. I have at my job and so should others.

Enjoy your day and stop getting so fumed with life. It is what it is.

I'm going to log off to enjoy this nice Sunday ! =D

I'd rather a few 'lazy people' make a living wage they don't 'deserve' than a few greedy people screw over the rest of us in order to buy their 11th gold urinal.

I love how people assume Mcdonalds job means they do not actually work, or that they do not work hard. Yeah, it's an entry job anyone should be able to do, like many many more jobs out there that expect just as much out of you. I understand that most people wouldn't want to be working there above a certain age (Unless you are a manager, or higher maybe) and I think the wage raise is quite excessive for what it is. Warehouse jobs, to other retail really don't always require much more than what some people probably do at Mcdonalds, but because it's McD, it's not acceptable it seems.

I understand the frustration people probably have towards this, though. I'm guessing a $12+ per hour job is seen as something not bad and that it's because you've got a bit more to offer (be it good job experience or a degree - even though it's probably irrelevant to most jobs people have) than perhaps a fast food joint.

If they don't like the wage, then go work somewhere else, McD is not the only place that hires people.

McD is not a career job, you work there as a teen, or as a wife/husband looking for a little extra cash. You can't raise minimum wage for 1 company so everyone's pay (in theory, some companies will keep it the same unless min is higher) everyone's wage goes up, and prices for everything goes up to match that change. Everything costs more.

Raising the minimum wage is an act of futility. You are still being paid the minimum, unless you get a skilled job, you will always be paid minimum. At minimum you will always not have enough money to eat, live, have satellite TV, have a smart phone with a $60 phone plan.

Raise it or not, makes no difference. How much your paid over minimum is what matters.

Good point. Most of this thread is talking about deserving pay. Even what the pay is now I'm sure McD isn't going to pay people for doing little or nothing.
