Spend around $10,000/year just to talk to people about anime... I spent $7/month on CR and it works just fine.

Unless you're Scottish and you can pay a grand total of £0

I wonder what a meet up of people here would be like.

I am sure it would be amazingly terrifying.

AnimeBoston 2015 April 3-5. Go.
Start working on a cosplay outfit now. If you have never been to an anime con before, YES you should cosplay the first time.
Is very easy to make friends, if you recognize somebody's cosplay outfit, compliment it, then talk about the show.

Are you in college? That's an easy place to find people with similar interests.

Depending on what part of Boston you're from and whether or not you're a HxH fan will decide why it's been so difficult to find me.

I go to community college in Wellesley, and I don't It's just difficult.. Espcailly the courses I take. BUT OMG YOUR FROM BOSTON.

You're from Boston. There are numerous conventions around the Northeast and don't be afraid to hop on the bus to New York City for those conventions, also. Facebook, crunchyroll (there are lots of Boston area folks here), internet groups, should be plenty of opportunities.

Huh, i usually find a few people who like anime everywhere. I my church, at my job there is a lot, and also at school there is a bunch of people who like anime. I generally find no shortage of anime conversations, maybe because i live in a big city.

I know a lot of anime fans around my area. Not necessarily friends but when we cross paths anime/gaming tends to be the topic. Meeting new people who're into anime is quite difficult because it's not something I tend to mention first. Not ashamed of myself for my interests, just can't stand being judged by those who're against it.

God I feel old all of a sudden, but I remember I almost went to college in Boston at 18.
One thing I remember liking about the city was that there was a ton of comic shops and people into comics/anime like me.

Some people have mentioned going to cons. DO. IT. Two of my friends met there, and they are now engaged! It really is a great place to meet people See some panels.
Though it can be hard. I was a very awkward teenager (I say at 24) and I remember stuttering asking someone about a particular show. Oh man. I'm getting embarrassed talking about it.

But everyone else is right too in that you ARE young and fresh out of high school. I've been out of HS for a while now, and 90% of my friends are either into anime or have a passive interest and don't mind my being into it. In fact I have a ton of friends who are WAY into it, enough to put me to shame. But we didn't meet because we were anime fans. I actually tend to...hide my power level in public I guess. But they would come over and see a Gundam I built on a shelf or what have you, and a conversation would spark. And then I had a friend to discuss the latest season with

I guess what I'm saying in total is that I understand what it's like to be shy, but if you want anime fans you have to put yourself out there in places where anime fans go (cons) and just in general (friends) to make friends. It's challenging, but I know you can do it

I know a couple people who have an interest in anime....but haven't really spoken to them in ages. Damnit, this thread made me realize how lonely I am.

It's probably because you don't live in Japan and thus the people around you aren't affected by a culture that exists literally on the other side on the planet. It's really not that hard to understand if you use your brain.

It's good to have a common like when having friends, but it doesn't mean it should revolve around that. I'm saying that but almost all my friends have watched anime/read manga before. The point is, I didn't become friends with them because they liked anime.

well you'd have to go out and experience real life first OP, most of which ppl would rather not.
