I met a buncha people at work and school that like anime, if you don't do either of those I really can't help you there, besides why not trying to get someone you already know to watch an anime with you? Maybe they'll start liking it

I have the same situation. It's not just anime but all of my strongest interests (anime, gaming, etc.).

You all probably just need to expand your group of friends if you can't find anyone with interest such as anime or even gaming. Gaming is very common now globally, and especially so in the US. Anime on the other hand..there are more people out there than you might realize that enjoy anime but have a hard time expressing so because of the negative stigma that has been placed on those who enjoy "chinese cartoons". I would try bringing it up in conversation, such as asking someone else what their interest are, and when you respond with your interest, mention anime and see what happens. Out of my group of friends, which is quite diverse, I'd say 50% watch some form of anime and I am not nor have ever been in an anime club. Even if you have to dig back to old roots such as Robotech, Ronin Warriors, DB Z, Sailor Moon, etc etc you know someone who has enjoyed anime in some form I'd bet.

I understand your pain. I believe I live in one of the most un-geeky cities in the US: only 1 arcade, hardly any anime shops, and the only anime convention scheduled here got canceled due to low registration. The only anime-related group around here that I know of (which is the one responsible for the convention) is out of my age range. The internet can only do so much.

Go to a convention, if I remember right there is a convention in located near you in Boston. If you are in school or college there might be a club related to anime you can join. If not then, make a club of your own. Fans are bound to join

Not a lot of people around my area likes anime. And I used to have friends who do back in high school. All talking about One Piece, Fairy Tail, Naruto, Soul Eater and Bleach. But rarely any other animes. Now that we've gone on our separate ways, there's no other people I could find that likes anime, except my older sister. Conventions is one way to find them, as well as any other anime shops I happened to find. But I'm a little timid, so I was all frozed up. lol.

I go to a university with an anime club. so really it is quite easy.

the other option is get your friends on board, recomend them one you are sure they will like and get them addicted...

So, I have to share....

Buddy and I are eating a 1am meal at the waffle house near his home. As we are leaving, I'm discussing Parasyte with him as a possible anime he may enjoy. Our thirtysomething waitress teases me, and begins talking about DeathNote and Full Metal. A twenty something waiter joins into the conversation and shares his thoughts about sword art and naruto.

I told them about this thread and about a person that has problems meeting anime fans. Our waitress laughed and said, " She needs to go to any Waffle House after midnight, almost everyone watches anime during her shift."

So, there you are. Start hanging out late night at Waffle House's and randomly talk about anime :P\

Edit: oh, and I and my buddy are fortysomethings.
