I used to give a dima-damn about it whenever I would attempt to get my friends to watch anime. Sadly however, most of them are just too impatient and reckless to wait a week or deal with "reading" while watching a show.

As someone who started off streaming anime before the availability of English Subbed DVDs, i can honestly say it's bottling down to opinion or just impatience. I started streaming anime, then went to torrents for a nicer quality and faster release. Eventually when Crunchyroll became a bit more broader with what it had out, i started to pay for this. Now i still go and check the subbing groups i used to follow for the sake that they will sub something Crunchyroll might not offer. Though some people, including me, pirate some shows, at the end of the day you can support the industry without paying for services like Crunchyroll. I sink a lot of money on Blurays, figures, shirts etc. Those people who pirate will eventually do the same if they really do love Anime.

I pirate anime that is not on CR

Like ore, twintails ni narimasu, but I'm sure it's on funimation so I can probably wait for it later or something.

They should have at least give potential consumers free first episode viewings. Or two free episodes.
Some anime has a slow pace on story telling and character development.

It's like being in a supermarket, you don't want to buy something that tastes nasty when you get home and eat it.
That's why there's a free sample or taste test.

If this anime fan is hooked after watching an anime, he or she would do what's necessary to get his or her latest episode... probably subscribing to an anime site. If it's worth it, he or she would subscribe. If the anime is just so-so, that person won't care if the anime drags on to numerous episodes and he or she still don't watch it.

Besides, what happens if the anime you like only lasted for 23 episodes with no future renewals and you subscribed to a site for a year? Some site, not naming CR lol jk, have great customer service and they will help the customers to cancel their subscriptions. Other sites or companies would charge you for a termination fee or the contact line is just busy.

Nope, you can't convince a whole breed of people to start watching anime legally once the PAY FOR THIS tag shows up. Free is the new way apparently.

I try to recommend Crunchyroll to as many people as I can, but the reasons they give me are always:
''I don't feel like waiting a week for this weeks episode or paying''

Not that I don't understand them, but I feel like everybody who watches Anime should kind of support the industry in a way youknow.

Laziness and impatience are poor reasons to break international law, but I suppose the pirates will only understand that as the screws are gradually tightened and punishments become more binding.

Granted, there are those for whom piracy is the only viable choice (due to where they live, among other restrictions), and there are those who are into series that can be had no other way, but ... most of what I see is the aforementioned laziness and impatience.

If you cannot wait a week for something you enjoy, you have might have a deeper problem with impulse control.

I don't care either way as they're not just going to stop if the people who watch anime legally say "Hey, that's not right". They're not stupid for wanting to watch anime illegally, they're lazy, impatient, etc.

There's a number of reasons why they wouldn't/don't watch anime legally, but I wouldn't call them stupid if they are (watching anime illegally). That's just rude. They could be smarter than us, you never know.

I think if it is for a stupid reason, it fits. Some of the smartest people in the world are stupid in certain ways. We wouldn't hold our opinions if we didn't think they weren't stupid and others flawed. For example, a lot of republicans graduated from Ivy League, but I think a lot of them are stupid for opposing gay marriage. As many people can agree, there is no singular way to be intelligent, and there is no single way to be dumb either.

To back up your argument, it can be said it is almost never appropriate to call someone an idiot, even if they are less intelligent than others in certain ways. Meh, I don't care, it's personally far too useful and entertaining to not act rudely.

It's been a year since I've been to an illegal streaming website. I got a 2 week free trial when I got a job, and I stuck around. I also use Hulu since it has most of Funimations stuff, but I don't pay for membership because why do I want to pay for commercials. I understand young teens using illegal methods, but once your an adult you should know better.

I don't watch anime on this site all the time. I watch anime on Netflix or other sites instead mainly because CR don't have shows I want to watch. I don't like waiting all that much either.

He sounds smart to me why the fuck would you wait a week on the CR release if you can pirate a version with better subs and in 1080P a week earlier.
