Nope, haven't touched television in about a year. Just anime.

EDIT: And reading of course if that counts. Practice my Japanese with manga and light novels and such.

I also watch sports on tv. Anime has Kuroko but we all know what he does is bullshit. Anime doesn't have NBA Live, son.

I'll kick it off with my response.

I do not watch TV much at all nowadays. I'll maybe catch something if i am sat in the room with family, but i generally do not actively aim to sit down and watch TV. And i have my reasons for this.

It is easier to waste time over TV
This is equally true with streaming services like Crunchyroll, but generally, it is slightly harder to waste time on a streaming service. It takes slightly more effort to load up your show, and to pick the next episode, compared to pushing one button and having things available there and then

You tend to watch better quality shows, and watch a wider variety
How many times have you sat down at the TV and seen the same show again-and-again, just because it's on? I know i did just that. However, I have never really had that problem while streaming shows.

In my opinion, A lot of TV shows nowadays are kinda crap...
First of all, let me state, this is my opinion. Sure, there are some genuinely good TV shows, such as Sherlock and The Walking Dead. However, most of the time, when you switch on your telly, you are treated to mediocre quality programs.

Streaming is often cheaper
TV licensing laws means you must have a TV license to watch live TV, or at least that is the case in my country. These licenses currently stand at £145.50 for a colour TV (and £49 for a b/w TV, but those are a rare case nowadays) per year. If you can live without a TV, then streaming proves to save you a little bundle of money, and depending on how strapped you are for cash, this can be a good choice

There's a strategy on what kind of shows/commercials being shown on each time slot of the day. For people that are Hikikomoris and retired old people in the US, they show a lot of reruns and tons of commercials about colleges and medications in the mornings till noon. As evening hits, hospital shows and crime shows are broadcasted to most people that just worked the 9 to 5 jobs/careers.

What? You're going to someone else's house to watch tv? How could you betray Jon like that? After he bakes you lasagna everyday. You know he gets lonely really fast.

You should at least do some entertainment for Jon as a compensation.

*wipes tears of laughter*

Television? Yeah no.

Reason is simple, it's boring. Also commercials. Like I support anime and that's it, I turn on adblock for everything else.

I mean i don't actively not watch t.v but i don't actively watch it. I really only watch anime, so i'm always on crunchyroll and hulu. Maybe if i'm deciding what series to watch next or i'm too lazy to turn on my computer i'll watch cartoon network or comedy central. So in a short, no i don't watch t.v.

I'm watching less and less TV over the past three years since finding anime. I watch anime as my main source of video, second by watching movies I either already have or get from Redbox, finally consider cable TV as the last choice. I recorded Wreck it Ralph the other day and finished watching it for the third time just now. Most of the TV playing is a not objectionable channel and it's just expensive background noise. We have about ten months left on our cable contract then we're cutting the cord entirely. I may go hulu, but since I don't watch much TV to begin with then it doesn't make sense to subscribe to a service that streams new episodes the next day. I have Netflix and have only used it more in the last two weeks. I spend between 40 to 55 hours a week at work, so there isn't enough time to watch much TV, just stay on top of my current season's anime.
