Because I honestly don't get it. It's like that craze in the 90's for all the super-deformed characters in games.

Is it because it's meant to be cute or cheap (They're still pricey for what they are)? I know it is preference but I would take a proper figure over a nendroid any day of the week.

So anyone care to explain the appeal?

What is the appeal of "Neko" girls?

And yet I wouldn't want a Nendroid version of a Neko Girl.

Some people buy nendos because they cost less and just really want a figure of their favorite bishoujo character. They are cute though.
Personally I dont like them. All I have are scale PVCs but man are they costly >.<

Yeah, that is pretty much how I see it. They just seem like a second best option when you could just get the better figure if you just save up a little extra.

This. I just started collecting some figures. I find nendoroids more easier to find and they my tight budget. ($20 on Amiami if I'm lucky) I can't seem to find a decent collection of KLK figures, so I'll just stick with the nendoroids. I already picked up the Satsuki and Ryuko nendoroid along with the Ryuko figma. I still would like to get the Satsuki figma and the Mako nendoroid soon.

Figmas are alright in terms of size and price. RAH figures (ranging from $100-200) are way too expensive for me right now.

They're inexpensive and cute, so as someone who's pretty casual when it comes to merch (at least for now), they're a pretty solid option. I don't have to spend much to cheer up my living space. Their small size can be a bonus too. I like how they can unobtrusively sit in front of my computer monitor.

The obvious choice is price but its the ability to customize a nendroid that draws people in I think.

I buy them because they're cute, small, and have various display options. Plus it's fun to swap around the heads, faces, and accessories between characters. Scales look very nice, and figmas are a ton of fun, but I'm fond of chibi designs too.

Cu-Poche, on the other hand, do nothing for me. I don't really like their proportions, they just don't look as cute.

the fact that you get your favorite characters as little chibi figurines is an awesome idea ( i dont think this sentence makes sense :/)

I barely have any anime merch, but I do own a couple of Nendoroids. They're just cute to have, and I tend to buy on impulse at times, so seeing something really cute and inexpensive makes me buy them

Nendoroids have option parts, and the newer ones since they changed the face moulds and such stuff can be interchanged nendo to nendo. So you can use the face of, say, one of the Kill la Kill girls, on the body of Tomoko from Watamote. Or you can give another character a sitting pose that comes with one of the others. Or you can crossdress your girls/guys. Etc etc. Some people like them for the ease of posing, too. I prefer Figmas because you have joints in the arms and hands and legs too, but not everyone has fun fully posing or is any good at it, so they prefer Nendoroids for that reason.

Plus yes, they are cute. And they're definitely cheap. I collect all kinds of figures and I just got my first Dollfie a couple weeks back ago (Miku), and Nendoroids are literally the cheapest things in my entire collection besides trading/gashapon and prize figures, which just do NOT have anywhere near the same quality that Nendoroids have.

I'm going to go with pretty much all of the above and add lots of the "normal" figures are, to my taste, over-sexed while the Nendoroids are more "PG" which is necessary since when the younger relatives visit I don't want to have to explain the half-naked figures to them or their parents. =P

Interesting, I wasn't even aware that Nendoroids were pose-able so that makes them more understandable. Don't think they will ever be my bag though. I don't like figma's because the joints are visible and that irks me no end, but I do understand the appeal of them a whole lot more.
