They are a total pain to read through. Quote once or twice; not the entire conversation.

Thanks.

That does not matter so much...

One of the mods made a point to say keep the important parts of the quote.

I have also come to the news that this site likes to cater to prevent latency via the rules...

I fixed them, and have alerted the offenders.

On topic: I wouldn't say exactly "sucked" but I failed to properly appreciate School Days because I was expecting first a typical romance, then a surprise realistic examination of polyamory, so sudden turn to ... nice boat left me feeling the show had not executed well.

With more exposure, and having seen more discussion about the show since then, I can appreciate it better, even if I still think sudden twists of that sort are generally melodramatic pulp-fiction laziness.

You do know you don't get your 2 points if I delete your 2 point post, right?

It is only appropriate to answer your question with a proper answer.

Yes, I do understand that I will lose my 2 points if you delete my points. I will however gain 2 points for answer your question with this most respectable answer.

Demon King Daimao. Was expecting a bit of dark fantasy...got a fanservice harem type thing. Was not happy.

Akame Ga Kill. Was expecting a mature, dark shonen, and all I got was shonen with gore. I still enjoy the show even though my better half tells me it is sort of a trainwreck.

It is a trainwreck, but dumb fun. If you read the manga further it doesn't get better. Just some people dying without development. I'm only still reading the manga because of that blue-hair chick. She is great to watch.

For me it's wizard barristers. It could had been amazing, but no.

When I was first getting into anime, I went through Netflix to see what they had; one of the first things I tried was Rosario x Vampire. From the Netflix description, I thought I might be getting a quirky romance with an interesting setting. Instead, I got half an hour of looking up girl's skirts for no apparent reason. Since then, I've seen enough fan-service heavy harem shows that it probably wouldn't bother me as much; but at the time, my only reaction was "WTF is this!?!?"

After that, I started looking up reviews before trying new shows.

Glasslip. I expected a romance with reasonable build up to the relationships and an interesting plot about psychic powers and maybe a bit of time traveling. Sadly, that was too much to ask for and I ended up looking at a piece of cardboard for 13 weeks hoping for a mind blowing twist at the end. Biggest disappointment of the year.

I've actually seen a lot of shows that I felt didn't live up to expectations because I started watching them thinking they would be one way, when actually they were another. I still have yet to finish TTGL and LH as well for this reason. I've seen it far too many times with SAO as well, and it seems like someone felt that way with Seitokai Yakuindomo as well. I'm sure TTGL and LH are both great shows if you know what to expect from them, but I can't seem to find it.

What I got from SAO is what I hope every story would try to avoid... Which is completely focusing on one character. Considering that I expect every anime to not do that, then yes SAO did not live up to my expectations.

Oooh I have a few....

Love Hina: This was the anime series that changed me from an "all anime is awesome I'll watch whatever I can get my hands on" to a "wow, there is crappy/mediocre stuff out there" anime fan. (LH is mediocre, not crappy, just for what it's worth.) I saw lots of screen shots and promotional art work in Animedia magazines and thought it looks like the next Ah! My Goddess!....and goodness was I disappointed.

More recently though--Sailor Moon Crystal. I've given my reasons all over the place and I won't re-hash all of them...but for a bi-weekly series with so much hype, I expected better animation and art quality, as well as some improvement on the dated and classic-though-flawed manga series.
