That's nothing, I know one who was arrested for NOT uploading anime. That's real blunder.

That was that guy that tried to quit being an uploader, so his "fans" reported him to the authorities right?
I thought that was pretty funny.

You make it sound as if this case is any different than the many other times someone in Japan has been arrested for uploading anime...

This makes me laugh, although I probably shouldn't be laughing. Hmm.

This is getting pretty old. What is the point of this?

It's about as effective a scare tactic as saying 'man dies from suffocation by removing his helmet on the moon.'

Arresting people like this is dumb, and here is why.

Did he break the law? Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuup.

Should people break the law? Noooooooope.

But will arresting people for uploading anime movies music cracked games etc, etc, etc, stop it in anyway whatsoever?

No.

The fact is that most people who enjoy movies and anime or anything else of the sort would like to enjoy them in a legal accessible way. The argument of the copyright holders is that illegal distribution hurts the bottom line. A fact i do not deny, what i do deny is that catching the one uploader from the thousands that upload illegally distributed copyrighted materials and dropping the hammer on them is going to stop anything.

The fact is when it comes to these things anime in particular the companies themselves have caused the situation to worsen. Platforms like crunchyroll are a rare thing i support crunchyroll because i like to support the industry so i can get more good anime. But there are a lot of things i simply can not get from crunchyroll. So fan subbers and even people who upload the raw's for the fan subbers to work with in many situations have no choice but to break the laws.

If you upload something illegally you take the risk you get caught. But if you want to decrease the amount of people uploading stuff then the only reasonable logical answer is to give the people(the demand) a useful proper platform to legally view the shows(the supply) that they want.

Supply and demand its a simple thing.

Same reason Pokemon isn't I'd think. The makers are trying to bid off the rights to a company who can air it on TV and handle merchandising.
