well, monopolizing a popular TV Show like "games of thrones" so that you can't watch it anywhere else but on [cable] TV.

I might be incorrect but I'm sure I heard that HBO finally caved and will soon be offering it's streaming service sans cable subscription.

Actually, don't take my word for it, here's a link.

I only use my TV for gaming, movies, or Crunchyroll. Other than that, it's pretty useless, in my opinion.

I haven't had cable in well over a decade.
I'm completely not interested in it.
Everyone wants their shows on demand, and cable companies currently can't supply that.

It's not a secret that services like Netflix, Youtube and to some extend websites like this one have dealt a massive blow to TV companies around the world.

So, what are TV companies doing to try to get their viewers back? Well, today I saw a trailer for a show called cleaning masters... I don't even... Anyhow, what do you think bout this and what are TV companies doing in your country to regain market share?

So, some TV execs looked at the rising number of people cutting the cord due to all the shit reality programming on TV and decided more shit reality programming was what they needed?

Here they are trying to regain their market share by inconveniently routing traffic to streaming sites though the most inefficient routes possible and using the local government to protect their monopolies.

Clearly this is the best course of action instead of un-bundling their services and allowing you to choose what content/channels you want to pay for. They are saving themselves so much money by buying politicians too; that's waaaay cheaper than upgrading their infrastructure using the public money they have been pocketing for years.

Remember that time back in 1996 when they promised fiber to the home within 10 years across the country in exchange for not regulating them and allowing them public grants? Pfft who needs that right? 6mbps with a 30GB cap is all we need, we don't even want gigabit.

i could see the TV becoming more like a demand service. i mean we have seen sky and other companies going in this direction as that is what the market wants. will TV die? i dont think so although it wouldnt surprise me if it isnt reworked completely into a type of hub that focuses on providing the content you want at the time you want it with live shows being hidden away in some category.
