Either is acceptable; neither is preferred. I wouldn't choose my company based on any sort of intellectual criteria, though. If I end up being the smart one or the dumb one, that's okay, but I'd never seek out either: I'm not invested enough in interpersonal dynamics for that.

I would be a genius pretending to be an idiot. That way I could dramatically reveal my genius at the opportune moment, Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass style!

.....I watch too much anime.

I actually already fill the idiot of the group niche. My group seems to be of a higher intelligence than most from my own insiders perspective so I am in no way saying that everyone around us is less intelligent, it's just my opinion. Oh to answer your question I must say I would rather be the 'idiot' which in itself doesn't make you an idiot but you have a lesser intelligence than others in your group, right?

I hate idiots. I'm fine being one though.

They say teaching is the most effective way to learn material.

The problem with judging a person's character by the way they answer a question is that it only tells op what's wrong with op.

I try not to pick my friends based solely on how intelligent they are. I do have limits for idiocy, but generally I try to be around all sorts of people.

I see nothing wrong with it. It makes for interesting conversation. I give them a problem, and see their solution to it. You can tell if someone is clever by his answers, but wise by his questions.

Heh, well, seems like I'd have slightly less to complain about if I were surrounded by smart people instead of stupid people.

The only disadvantage I can see is feeling inadequate, but I'm not the kind of person who can't stand being humbled.

A common question I ask people to gauge their personality is whether or not they rather be the idiot of a given population or the genius. In other words, would you surround yourself eith intellectually superior beings or dumb asses?

To those wondering why I am spending my afternoon on the Crunchyroll forums, I have nothing better to do.

Crap, forgot to add poll, oh well.

I go being the smart although it's stressful to teach people in my group sometimes.

I would rather be the idiot. I already act pretty stupid, so it wouldn't be much of a change. Less is expected from you if you're the idiot XD It would just suck because all the jokes would be made about you.

The idiot due to two possibilities:
If I maintain my present intelligence and I am just the idiot of the group, that's going to be a pretty intelligent group.
If I am an actual idiot (or just really dumb), at least I'll probably be more oblivious, and ignorance is rather bliss.
