Had one and only roommate in my life never again. He was a guy i knew at College (Like High School for you American types) and we were both attending the same University so we decided we would get a place together. For a couple of days it was kinda fun we got take away food and played video games and watched movies but then i figured out that he was immature and lazy. Spent all of his money on crap as soon as he got it, wanted to go out every night drinking spending money on drink and take aways and then when bills and rent came around he never had his share. After struggling for a month to get by while constantly chasing him up for money he goes back to his Mothers for a couple of days and then calls me saying he's moving out to live with his Uncle who lives close by.

His Mother and Uncle come to pick stuff up and then start a big fight about my "bad attitude" like they expected him to be able to sponge off me and for me to say nothing. Even got really petty where they were asking why my room is bigger even though it was slightly bigger. I paid the deposit on the place i think i deserved the bigger room. We spoke a few times after that but were never really friends again. Not seen him since after Uni graduation dunno what he's doing now probably still sponging off relatives.

Oh man, hope your lease is almost up if you guys don't really get along.

I'm currently rooming with my sister it's pretty great.
Although before, my sister and I used to live with a friend and his boyfriend. It was nice for a while, would have movie nights, party, you know typical awesome roomies. Although, when they came home from the bars around 2:30am, they'd be hollering a storm and waking us up, I had to get up at 6am that morning for work. I'd just tell them, "Dude, really I have to work in the morning shut the heck up and take care of this some other time." Things were okay there, later on in time like 2 months before the lease was up they skipped out on us and we had to pay the left over utility bills/rent they left ($950 in total) that's not including our part of the rent. He wasn't on the lease because his credit was pretty bad so we took him in when we really didn't have too, if it weren't for his boyfriend we'd probably be screwed a long time ago.

My advice, If you ever get a roommate make sure they are responsible, mature, and on time with payments. I don't care if they are you best friend from High school or from forever ago, make sure they have their priorities right.

I've heard so many terrible roommate stories that it makes me glad I never went away to college. I stayed local, at one that's only 20 minutes from where I live, and still stayed at home with my parents during that time. It was much less stressful than I'm sure going away would have been.

It's also the reason I haven't moved out yet in general. I'd rather stay with my parents longer than I'm 'supposed to' than deal with people I don't know and having the possibility that I'd be footing bills here or there, or keeping the entire place clean by myself, etc etc. I'll move out when specific friends of mine end up with a job they can trust that's more than part time or if my boyfriend and I get serious. Or of course, if I can ever land a job that'll pay me well enough to afford to be on my own. But that seems to be few and far between.
