Dear members of crunchyroll staff,

The most recent update of Ps3 app came with a certain issue.
The resolution of the videos are getting down often. I made in the configuration of the site 1080p as default resolution.
Before this week I didn't have this "automatic reduction of resolution", so to speak.
Could you fix this problem please?

Greetings!

The Default Video Quality setting has only ever applied to the website Flash player.

I believe I've been seeing something similar on the 360 app, and I expect it's an effort to try and reduce the amount of buffering that people experience.

thank you for you attention.
That is still a issue that needs to be fixed.
Past week the ps3 app did not have this "feature".
I know that it is good for "reducing the amount of buffering", but I prefer waiting the buffering and watch the episode in full hd resolution.
It is a good implement for people that do not like wainting, but the staff should implement a option that disable this feature.
It is a deadly sin not watching Sword Art Online and Fate Say Night UBW in the ultimate quality haha

greetings

Just noticed this today and it was very annoying and disconcerting, having it randomly jump between HD and SD in the middle of an episode.

It seems like in the rush to make things faster, buffering is not being done as well as it used to. Not just CR, but in general.

I'm having the same issue with the PS3 app since the latest update. My episodes will start at a VERY low resolution (super pixelated image and tinny sound), then about 10 minutes into an episode the quality will go up to 1080p, and then 5 minutes later go back to (really bad) SD.

I'm a premium member precisely so that I can watch my series in 1080p HD, this kind of defeats the purpose of paying for the membership if I can't have the HD benefits it claims to offer. I would love it if you guys could look into this issue and maybe code something differently in the new version of the PS3 app so we can avoid the "sudden, unwanted SD" issue. It's soooooo bad it feels like I'm watching a crappy illegal stream on some spyware-bloated site rather than Crunchyroll, lol.

P.S.: I never had this issue before the latest update. My internet connection doesn't seem to be different than before either (Netflix and Hulu Plus are streaming fine in HD without sudden, long-lasting changes in quality like the CR PS3 app)

Same. Ever since the last update, performance has frankly been unacceptable. The PS3 app used to have similar issues like a year or two ago, but at some point they fixed that and I had no problem streaming at 1080p consistently and without issues. Now, though? It jumps to 720 or even 480 every couple of minutes, which I can only fix by rewinding a bit. There's also random 5-10 second skips forward every now and then. This is frankly silly on a freaking wired 180 mbit connection and should not be happening at all. (Nor does it on any other service, mind)
Hell, even the ipad app works better and that runs on wifi :|

Any plans on looking into this at all, or do we have to suffer this for months on end again?
