All of his supposed powers are mundane for Kryptonians as evidensed by Kara and the dog, Krypto.
He's as super as batman and the green lantern.

He's got a big package.

I think after living on earth for so long, he should get weaker like the astronauts do in space.

Wasn't it something to do with how our sun is a yellow sun or something though, rather than just the gravity.

This won't change your mind or at least I don't think so if I know people on the internet well enough, but...

Kal'el is a prodigy.
He might not be recognised for it, apart from his fans, but his willpower alone is commendable.

Willpower not impressive you say?
Well, alright.
Just keep in mind that Batman's superpower is his willpower, that's what makes him a human that transcends the commoners.
Superman is the same, except he happens to be fortunate to have powers that are naturally intergrated because of the yellow sun and his kryptonian physiology, but his willpower, like Batman, is his true superpower.

I'm guessing he's super only in comparison to the people of earth he was often seen by, so they dubbed him Superman.

Higher strength, heightened senses (hearing), invulnerability, jumping/flight ability, heat and x-ray vision, and don't forget super gusts and the ability to hold his breath in space for a long time.
The only thing that makes him super is that he has more abilities than a normal meta-human or some other aliens so long as he's under a yellow sun. If he's under a red sun he will eventually lose all power, becoming as powerful as a normal human.
Yeah, had more Kryptonians escaped and come to Earth, it wouldn't be anything super.

Batman is just a human who's trained his mind and body to be more powerful. He's not bullet proof, his body has been broken, and he does get worn out. He's got his own power armor, but doesn't need to use it when fighting most enemies, even going toe to toe with Darkseid (sorta).
Green Lantern corps rely will and intelligence, nothing about their bodies are any stronger than a normal human (unless they already had meta or alien abilities), but the power of the ring will amplify their power and protect their body. I believe Batman got his hands on Hal's ring at one point temporarily and was a force to be reckoned with, basically more super than Superman.

Super due to too many powers, super because even he admits that he needs some assistance from time to time. Originally he was supposed to be an evil mastermind, but then his story went in a direction in line with Judaism because of the Nazi's warping all the cool stuff.

He doesn't seem to be much of a prodigy as far as his powers are concerned, does he? Either that or his dog and cousin are also prodigies, which would be pushing it. I suppose what makes him truly remarkable among Kryptonians is his devotion to the welfare of the people of Earth. Supergirl is also devoted to Earth's welfare, but not as much as Superman is. He's devoted to Earth to the point of obsession, perhaps arguably even insanity. Krypto, meanwhile, is a dog. Dogs do not really devote themselves to anything more than their masters, and that's what Krypto does (whatever Superman is doing).

His name is Superman because his first name is Super and his last name is Man.

I've always thought what makes superman so super was more or less his willpower and conviction. He's definitely one of the more powerful DC superheroes and for that reason alone he has to control himself more then others. Time and time again villains try to make him abuse his powers towards his own personal benefit instead of simply using them for the greater good, and that relatively scares Superman. He knows that if he truly wanted to he could possibly destroy the world, or atleast a good portion of it before the other heroes stop him, and the only thing stopping him is simply his willpower. Thats just my two cents though.
