How often are you mistaken for someone else?
Posted 11/25/14
Note: This is not a thread about bullying, but the consequences of it and the trend it sets.

Does this ever happen to you? I find this really annoying, and in my experiences its usually only online, without video or headsets, and its becaue someone shares similar interests or behaves in a similar fashion, tendencies, flaws, nuances, etc.. But people like their checklists and putting people in boxes, and I'll agree some people are seemingly made with cookie-cutters, but how commonplace is this "narrowing of the eyes Batman" paranoia , and should people have to pay for the sins of other people? Ever wonder, who stole my identity, WTF is going on , and why are people so insecure, ignorant and paranoid when they know that is just what whoever victimised them wants? Its a vicious cycle of creeps victimising victims victimising victims victimising victims. It makes you think about how not we should handle creeps by becoming creeps ourselves. Anyway, what do you think? Please do not be mean or silly, this is a serious poll.

I'm often mistaken for George Clooney and Snoop Dogg.

Used to it by now.

People constantly compare me to looking like a certain comedic actor.

Does being mistaken for a difference race count? I'm full asian, but I have a darker skin complexion than most. Instead of looking like a vampire, I probably look like.. a toasted piece of bread (not burnt). So people assume I'm mixed with something & asian T.T

Sure it happens. After profusely shedding tears at the loss of my special snowflake delusions, I move on.

I wouldn't be shedding any tears for anyone who has any special snowflake delusions about my identity.

I get told I look like any number of asian actors because they all look alike to some people.
And it's meant to be a compliment.

I was being sarcastic. Seriously speaking though, it's pointless to get riled up when mistaken for someone else. Rarely are people as unique as they believe themselves to be.

Its not about that and you know it. How someone perceives themselves as being unique (people are unique btw) or not isn't the topic of this thread. It how someone uses their own paranoid delusions or persecution against innocent people. I think you can stereotype anyone, but that doesn't make them the same individual as someone else, even if they were identical twins, their experiences and POVs make them different. I, for instance, don't think I'm special, but I don't think I'm you if you are like me, etc.

Yes, being labeled isn't ideal, I get it. People can and will judge. They'll mentally profile you and jump to wild conclusions. If you care enough to walk the extra mile, opinions can be changed. Universally however, it'll always be a thing. You can either tolerate it, or you can walk.
