Beat me to it. Subarunyon is right guys, Crunchyroll is not obliged to put out the same Black Friday deal again they've done in the past. If you can afford a membership good for you. Please don't expect them to do the same deal again. With that said if you have other methods of viewing anime, that's fine, but don't pester Crunchyroll for a discount on a membership when they've done it so many times in the past already.

Eh. We're not obliged to continue paying either. I used to watch fansubs back before Crunchy Roll, and have no problem going back to them :-)

No idea why you think the post is BS. Their store is very decent and there's nothing condescending about the selling pitch. I dont see CR calling you or your family any names.

It's clear you don't understand the meaning of my post, but more importantly, theirs. Oh, and please show me where I called them names? I'd like to see that.

ugh I've been waiting for the discounted membership :\ I don't watch enough to warrant paying full price but I was going to bite the bullet for the sake of being able to watch new eps without waiting the extra week. Oh well. Saved myself whatever that would have cost... I'm sure I can think of something worthwhile to spend that money on

I'm using name calling as an example of of being condescending. I'm pretty sure that it will be difficult to find a dictionary that will agree with your definition of condescending in the CR sales pitch.

I understand what you're saying. I disagree with it.

I'll be keeping abreast of these additional deals throughout the week, then. I was sincerely hoping for a discounted annual rate over the course of this weekend, but I've not yet lost hope that such an offer will be made at a later point.

Edit: In the meantime, there's no sense in not going over to the store and seeing what's discounted.

Honestly, I did expect it, but also expected they wouldn't offer it. I'm really just upset they're trying to pass this current deal off as the best thing since sliced bread, like we can't tell it isn't a good deal.

More than a few people in this thread posted that they are glad to see the deal and will buy something from the store.

I've only compared it to another established (10yo++) anime merchandise store that has a BF deal, and the 30% off seems very competitive especially for the new and preorder merchandise. I suggest you do some comparison first.

For the record I have no use for the deal since my apartment is space-strapped.

And I do hope we see some sort of membership discount sometime.... I'll gladly appreciate a biyearly four month membership deal *nudgenudgewinkwink*

but the stuff they sell in the store are mostly excellent top grade stuff.

You say that but their DVDs are just as bad as their regional licensing. They're all region 1 and DVDs are the only thing I'd want from crunchyroll. I could really do with Rozen Maiden Overture.

The standard annual price for an anime-only Crunchyroll membership is still just $59.95, and the all-access version is $99.95. If you were looking to pay less for your membership, these are the way to go, with the anime-only plan at less than $5/month. If you wanted to take advantage of the Black Friday deal in the store, it's definitely the best way to go.

Price seems pretty comparable on amazon. Just get it from there?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rozen-Maiden-Overture-DVD-Matsuo/dp/B008LU8O3G/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1417142645&sr=1-1&keywords=rozen+maiden+overture

I'm guessing that for DVD they actually keep a physical stock. Probably not enough volumes of region 2 purchase to warrant importing them from Europe into San Fransisco, and then back to Europe. Maybe they need to open a Europe branch to sell DVDs!

What the OP doesnt mention s that the deal is only good for a select few items. it only works for items that have a on them. which isnt even half of the store. and no preorder items.

not to mention its only good until sunday., and there are some items with that icon that arent on sale until monday (like the mystery bags bundles or the game bundle), the OP mentioned wanting some figurines. yet from what I see aside from like 3-4, The figurines arent a part of the sale as they dont have the store icon.

Frankly, I amazed at the amount of merchandise anime fans seem to buy in the form of figurines, etc. DVD/BD I can see, but I guess I'm just not into collectibles. Given what's in the store, I rarely see anything that catches my eye.

CR used to offer some pretty good deals on DVD sets from time to time. I got RahXephon and Haruhi for less than $20 each. I haven't seen any great deals like that in a long time.

I guess I can consider myself fortunate that the credit card I used in the past for membership has expired since CR has never had a system for stopping auto-renewal without canceling your membership (unless they changed that "cancel" to mean this--before it really did just cancel the time you had already paid for, from what people said).

So can someone refresh my memory as to how I would go about changing over to an anime-only sub? I never watch dramas, and I haven't read any of the manga in a long time--just no time for it nowadays. So last year I gave them $70 and got $15 in store credit, that I really had very little interest in using. So now I'll just give them the $60 straight up for my anime. I wonder how many will do the same and if it would affect their drama viewership?

I have a little time before I need to do this, so maybe they will offer the discounted membership again... But even so, that $60/yr price point seems pretty good to me. I'd probably not go for another all-access if they do something where I end up spending more than that, even if I "save" a few bucks with store credits that I have to force myself to find something to spend it on. And that being the case, I'm not really saving anything.

they changed that at some point this year because I went to cancel a few days before and it asked just renewal or membership completly
