Does anyone know where I can get the Log Horizon Collection 1 blu ray for a decent price? I looked on amazon and it's like 60 bucks.

Right Stuf is doing their holiday sales now, and while it is not currently on sale, it likely will be one of their daily Mega Deals or in the 12 days sale come December.

That said, Deep Discount has it on sale right now for $42.99 and has a promo code, GRAVY, for 15% off everything, so $36.54 if you use the code. The code ends tonight though.

Log Horizon Blu-ray Collection 1

Bear in mind this is only part one of two parts for season one. You need to buy part two also to own all of season 1 (25 episodes).

No, it only has 13 episodes, which is why I think 60 dollars is a little ridiculous, unless that is normal price for anime. That said, attack on titan is 50 bucks for the whole season, that seems reasonable to me.

Before this gets closed as a personal thread, I saw it listed for $45 on Frys, but I've never bought from there myself, so caveat emptor...

It's Sentai Filmworks, which produced a decent quality dub, has a standard packaging and deals, AND is easily accessable.

Much better than the Aniplex $81 for 12 episodes of a shitty dub of Magi. No seriously, 81. That's FAR WORSE.

And then you have the $150 for 12 of Fate/Zero, $400 for Bakemonogatari no-dub. $95 for Katanagatari for 6 Episodes, sub's can not be turned off. AND Kill la Kill, 4 Episodes for $49.

that's pretty much the normal price... if you think it's expensive, you must not buy a lot of anime.

and AoT is split into half seasons as well.

man the pricing structure seems directly linked to how overhyped a show is

I'd actually disagree with you on the quality point. The nicest thing I can say for the Log Horizon dub is that it's inconsistent. Some of the VAs do stellar jobs(Lenessia, Henrietta, Akatsuki, Tohya and Minori to name a few) but some are just not good (Dolce and Rudy jump to mind here). I quite liked the Magi dub however.

The problem is less with the voice actors and more with the script. Aniplex likes to rush dub's and ramp up the price on their products in an attempt to capitalize on the "collector consumer" demographic. The true Otaku nerd fan's wouldn't watch the dub anyways! And the newbies wouldn't notice!

Comparatively, I find Sentai Filmworks as a whole to be a great dubbing company, but also a smaller one. They're quick and effective and write solid scripts, but they've got a limited set of resources to use.

I have not seen Log Horizons English Dub, but the others I own from Sentai have amazing dub's. Mysterious Girlfriend X managed to keep in the Honorfic's and name orders without ruining anything in the show itself.

How about if I give you 3 dollars and we call it a day.

LH BDs for 60 bucks. There better be some cure in there.

Can't wait to see the Price for S2 merch.... so far, the collective amount from ep 1 to 8 is roughly $2.50 , with 2 dollars coming from episode 8 alone.

Ahh I see, I see. I certainly appreciate when dubs keep honorifics(shout out to Ouran, the perfect dub).

To get a title at a decent price you need to preorder it or get it during a sale. (Preorders are usually $5-$10 dollars cheaper than buying after the show releases)

To use an example, with Rightstuff, I preordered Log Horizon S1 for $41.99, and it's now up to $52 ish. The only problem is you have to preorder it a few months in advance, and I know some people's budgets don't allow them that much leeway.
