To get a title at a decent price you need to preorder it or get it during a sale. (Preorders are usually $5-$10 dollars cheaper than buying after the show releases)

To use an example, with Rightstuff, I preordered Log Horizon S1 for $41.99, and it's now up to $52 ish. The only problem is you have to preorder it a few months in advance, and I know some people's budgets don't allow them that much leeway.

But then we're walking into Preorder bullshit. Something that the Gaming industry is really shoving down peoples throats as it's an easy way to sell people product's that don't exist yet.

Why would you pay for something of which the quality hasn't been confirmed yet?

On that note, a lot of people were mad when they realized Anime such as Fate/Illya Prisma and Katangatari were Sub only. In katanagatari's case, it was a Sub without the ability to turn of the Subtitles, making an overall worse product for everyone involved.

Not that I don't think you should preorder, and you already know what kind of Anime you're recieving on the most of it. But the problem is the overprice nature of the entire Anime market.

Hell, Videogames cost the same in Japan that they do in America. Anime in America is about 40-60 bucks, while Anime in Japan is closer to 300-400. it has to do with the market differences.
Hollywood knows that their consumers wouldn't pay for more than a set price for a movie simply because of the shear volume of movies out there. SO they focus on getting people to watch it on release for commercial revenue, and mass selling it cheap to get profit.

Rather than the 5 Nerd's who really loved the show to buy that absurd price in exchange for the 50 that would have had to originally buy it to make their money back.

First, Sentai's only release of Fate/kaleid liner Prism Ilya did have a dub. And if they didn't know something wouldn't have a dub, then that's pretty much their own fault for not looking at what they were buying. On the list of details for sites like NISAmerica.com and Rightstuf.com that type of information is usually right there on the page. The subtitle not being able to be turned off is usually a viable issue though in most cases. NISAmerica's site specifically states that issue with Katanagatari's blu-rays, but I have no way of knowing if that was there from day 1 when they were accepting pre-orders or added later.

Second, pre-ordering is really no different from buying something on the day of release. Especially on rightstuf since nothing's actually being charged until it ships. Sure, sometimes you may get burned, but that's pretty rare. In the case of Log Horizon for me (which I did pre-order) the dub was only a bonus really as I likely would have bought it anyway if it was a sub-only release and I bought it during a Sentai sale on rightstuf so I got it for the $41.99 price point. Which it's a good thing that I only consider the dub in this case as a bonus, cause some of the performances and writing just aren't very good.

If you wait a year or so, the price will likely be way less. Probably up to 50% off, especially during special sales!
If you really want to be cheap, you could always torrent the files and burn them onto blu-rays!

Does anyone know where I can get the Log Horizon Collection 1 blu ray for a decent price? I looked on amazon and it's like 60 bucks.

Hi, I've closed this because personal help threads aren't allowed in the discussion forums. It looks like you got the info you needed though--which I'm glad about.
