You know, some of those actually exist in real life.

i think the anime, "Senyu" identified a lot of anime cliches. the most memorable one i remembered was the scene where the guy was clearly stabbed in the heart and blood was gushing out, but then conveniently has book in the left pocket... and came back to life.

this scene made me laugh like crazy.

i think a lot of anime like to do this to the audience. make people think one character is dead only to fool us and say they're actually alive because they got a book or whatever. or some random character was able to save them in time when you clearly seen them being blasted by a laser beam.

besides Eiko Magami (Project Ako) and Shinnosuke Nohara (Crayon Shin-chan), no MC has both parents alive without one (or both) dying over the course of the series; that I can think of. Or they do not live with their parents instead they live with an aunt or uncle or grandparent. Or the parents are "away" and the character lives alone. Ichigo Kurosaki, Uryū Ishida (Bleach) and Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha) have one parent shown, but for the most part Anime MCs are all orphans.

Why must it rain every time when some one dies? And on that note why can no character die without giving some sort of speech or confession or power transfer?

Actually, quite a few MC's have both parents alive. Tsuna from Reborn has both parents alive and on screen, Jotaro from JoJo has a living mom and off screen dad, and Madoka has both parents alive and on screen. You'll find more if you look for them.

Not saying they don't exist cuz I missed Sailor Moon, but there is a long and distinguished list of anime "orphans" like most of the cast of Drrr

I don't like the generic wimpy male protagonist in harem animes. I don't like when shows bring characters back to life after they die. I hate shounen protagonists that are generally weaker than the stronger characters in the show but win with powerups rather than just growing to be stronger than their opponent (Natsu from Fairy Tail randomly getting super Dragonforce when he needs it but being weaker than Erza, Laxus, Gildarts usually).

There are plenty anime cliches out there that have become annoying, but I think the one that has really been overused and now has the flavor of a piece of gum having been chewed on for an eon is this one :

For awhile I kept noticing that a character would lose an eye, or only have one eye...
I guess if you are going to have something bad happen to a character, losing an eye is probably pretty harsh.

Anything that is truly important, happens on the roof.

The Student Council has absolute power over the whole school

The sky will fall in if you don't remember every promise you made when you were four years old.

The high school classroom is the most dangerous place on earth for a student (just look at the previews for the two live action horror shows within the last two days here on Crunchyroll)

If you want a lasting relationship with a girl, just marry the space alien female who crashes into your bedroom

Instant power-ups, this is probably the greatest sin in all of anime in my opinion. While it sometimes can be mildly entertaining I'd prefer to see a character become stronger rather than just magically not only escaping death, but somehow defeating his much stronger and healthier opponent.
